Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized the need for the highest level of training for police officers to enable them to efficiently discharge their duties. Addressing trainee police officers at the National Police Academy in Islamabad, he stated that the core focus of their training syllabus should be the protection of citizens’ lives and property and provision of justice to the common man.
According to Radio Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif applauded the sacrifices being rendered by police personnel in the line of duty. Alluding to the resurgence of terrorism in the country, the Prime Minister said that the armed forces and law enforcement agencies, including the police, are valiantly fighting the terrorists. He appreciated their sacrifices in the war on terrorism.
Regarding the upgradation of the National Police Academy, the Prime Minister said it will span twenty-five acres and include an elite training school and a firing range. He stated that trainee police officers will also undergo one month of training in China. He announced that the National Police Academy will also award a Master’s degree.
In his remarks on the occasion, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said advanced courses, including those related to cyber security, will be conducted at the National Police Academy. He said the best training facilities will be ensured at the academy.
