PM Vows to Play Constructive Role in Promoting Regional Peace

Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan's readiness to play a constructive role in promoting the restoration of peace and stability in the region. The Prime Minister was talking to the President of Syria, Ahmed al-Sharaa, who made a telephone call to him. During the conversation, the two leaders discussed the dangerous regional escalation following Israel's attack on Iran and the subsequent attacks in the Gulf region. They emphasized the urgent need for restraint, de-escalation, and dialogue to preserve regional peace and stability.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister briefed the Syrian leader on Pakistan's diplomatic outreach in the wake of the current crisis. Apart from the Middle East situation, recent developments in Afghanistan also came under discussion. On the bilateral front, both leaders expressed satisfaction on the longstanding brotherly ties between Pakistan and Syria and agreed to enhance cooperation in areas of mutual interest while maintaining close coordination on regional developments.
