Police arrest 106 street criminals
Islamabad: Islamabad Police have arrested 106 persons involved in street crimes during the current year and recovered 87 mobile phones, 10 snatched vehicles and looted items worth hundreds of thousands of rupees.
On the directions of IGP Islamabad Wajid Ali Khan Durrani and DIG Operations Bani Amin, SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan asked all police officials and Station House Offices (SHOs) to launch aggressive campaign against those involved in street crime.
During the drive the capital police obtained the record of those persons who had ever remained involved in street crimes and arrested 106 criminals.
City Circle Police arrested 15 persons and recovered 37 mobile phones, Saddar Circle police arrested 57 persons and recovered four snatched vehicles, 36 mobile phones. Similarly, Rural Circle arrested 15 persons and recovered two snatched vehicles and 10 cell phones while Industrial area Circle police arrested 19 persons and recovered four snatched vehicles, seven mobile phones and cash from them.
SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan has directed all Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs) and Station House Officers (SHOs) to ensure effective patrolling in their jurisdictions and take stern action against the anti-social elements.
He also directed to ensure vigilance against the suspects and make effective checking at all entry and exit points of the city.
“It is our prime responsibility to ensure protection to the lives and property of the citizens. Those police officials involved in dereliction of duties or adopting sluggish attitude would not be spared and strict disciplinary action would be taken against them,” SSP said.
