Police Arrested 42 Terrorists In August In Pakistan’s Punjab Province

The Counter Terrorism Department of Police, in Pakistan’s eastern Punjab province, arrested 42 terrorists from banned organisations in Aug, according to official data.

The data, shared by the police yesterday, revealed that, the arrested terrorists include eight from Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, three from the Daesh and two from al-Qaeda, who were planning to conduct terrorist activities in the country.

Police said that, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) conducted over 1,000 combing operations across the province, to arrest the militants, especially in the districts of Lahore, Rawalpindi, Bahawalpur, Gujranwala, Multan, Sargodha, Chiniot, Kasur and Mandi Bahauddin.

All the arrested terrorists were involved in terrorist activities, or they had planned to carry out subversive activities, and were also working to recruit fresh blood for their respective organisations, the police said.

During the operation, the CTD confiscated a cache of arms and ammunition from the terrorists, including explosive materials, detonators, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), fuses and a vast amount of local and foreign currency
