Power Division has decided to take strict action against incidents of illegal takeover of grid stations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In a letter to Chairman Peshawar Electric Supply Company, the Power Division underlined that such incidents must be strictly discouraged with FIRs to be lodged against perpetrators without fear or favor. If the police is hesitant in lodging an FIR then the matter be pursued with the sessions judge and if still it could not be registered then Peshawar High Court be approached and remedy be sought through legal counsel. The Power Division asked PESCO that the most recent incident of grid station takeover on Monday last by an MPA and a Tehsil Nazim in Malakand district, be responded to immediately as a test case. It also asked the PESCO that if deployment of FC is required for protection of inner parameters of grid stations and other PESCO assets, a request may be sent to power division. The Power Division also asked the PESCO to appoint a senior officer from its public relationing wing to highlight all incidents of power theft and perpetrators of the incidents may be named and shamed by floating their videos and pictures on social and print media.
