Karachi: The water level is dropping which is expected to lower the hydel power production in the country, resulting in an incremental shortfall of 2000 to 3000 megawatts.

According to Alfalah Securities Limited, the decreased water flow from Tarbela and Mangla dams last year during the same period reduced hydel power production by 2,300 megawatts as at least 30,000 cusecs outflow had been cut from Tarbela and 18,000 cusecs from Mangla Dam. The total demand of electricity is around 15000 MW where the production remains around 10,000 MW.
