President inaugurates Two Road Projects in South Punjab
Multan, March 05, 2013 (PPI-OT): President Asif Ali Zardari has said that present democratic government accorded top priority to the roads connectivity projects and despite daunting challenges and difficult economic situation utilized all available resources to providing a decent travelling and road facilities to the people of the country.
The President said this while addressing the gathering in Multan today after the inauguration of recently completed Rasheed abad fly over and ground breaking of a bridge over river Ravi at syedwala.
The inaugural ceremony was attended among others by former Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gillani, federal ministers, Parliamentarians, members of the civil society and other high officials besides notables of the area.
Spokesperson to the President Senator Farhatullah Babar said that the President while inaugurating the two important connectivity projects of vital economic importance said that these projects would enhance road connectivity in South Punjab on one hand and further promoting Socio- economic, commercial and agricultural development of the area on the other.
The President said that the communication projects would create ample employment opportunities for people of the area and would improve the life standards of the common people, hence ushering a new era of progress and prosperity in South Punjab.
The President said that present democratic government during its five year tenure focused on development of South Punjab and worked earnestly for brining the people of the area into the mainstream of national life. Commenting on government’s initiatives for development of South Punjab, the President said that under development package for South Punjab various development projects have been completed and many are in the pipeline.
The President said that government was well aware of the deprivations of the people of South Punjab and that’s why we are working earnestly for creation of separate province in Punjab for the people of South Punjab.
The constitution of a Commission manifested sincerity of the present government to respect the legitimate aspirations of the people of South Punjab and to address their genuine grievances, the President said and added that Parliamentary Commission on Creation of New Provinces in Punjab has already submitted its report. The Spokesperson said that the President called upon all the political forces to come forward and support the government drive for creation of Janoobi Punjab a separate province so as to bring the people of south Punjab into the mainstream of national life and remove their sense of deprivation.
The President on the occasion said that geo strategic location of Pakistan at the cross roads of Central and South Asia offers the country to serve a huge market of over 3 billion in our neighborhood and urged the need for building and further improving communication networks to attract investment and bolster business and trade activities in the country.
He said that high quality road and communication linkages would help attract regional and international traffic to our country and will give a much needed boost to the trade and commercial activities in the country. The road projects, the President said would also help in introduction of our industrial products in markets of other countries of the region and beyond in a speedy and cost effective manner.
The President on the occasion commended Dr. Arbab Alamgir Khan, Federal Minister for Communication, Mr. Anwar Ahmad Khan, Federal Secretary Communication, Mr. Hamid Ali Khan, Chairman NHA and all those associated with these projects for their efforts and dedication to further improve flow of traffic within the city of Multan and its linkages with rest of the country.
