Islamabad: In his message on World Food Day, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif underscored the government’s commitment to ensuring food security, supporting sustainable agriculture, and promoting the well-being of Pakistani citizens. The theme for this year’s World Food Day, “Right to food for a better life and a better future,” aligns with the government’s efforts to bolster the agricultural sector and support the nation’s farmers.

According to Press Information Department, Prime Minister Sharif detailed the initiatives aimed at transforming Pakistan’s food system, which include the adoption of new agricultural technologies, improvements in food processing and storage, and enhancement of food safety measures. The government is actively facilitating access to modern agricultural machinery, better infrastructure, and improved market access for farmers. Special emphasis is also being placed on supporting rural women entrepreneurs and integrating small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the food processing sector.

The Prime Minister expressed confidence in overcoming challenges related to hunger, malnutrition, and food insecurity through innovation and international collaboration. He highlighted partnerships with global organizations like the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO) to share knowledge and innovations that promote a nutritious and sustainable food supply. With these concerted efforts, the government aims to secure a prosperous future for Pakistan’s agricultural sector and ensure the availability of nutritious food for all citizens.
