Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Warns Against Economic Harm from Protests

Islamabad:Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has firmly stated that no one will be permitted to damage the country's economy through protest politics.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister, speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Kashmir Chowk Underpass, emphasized that the law will ensure the protection of citizens' lives and properties. He also highlighted the macroeconomic stability achieved over the past two and a half years, noting improvements in exports and remittances.

Shehbaz Sharif urged the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to end its long march, suggesting that the government is ready for discussions to advance the nation, aligning with the collective will of the people. The Prime Minister mentioned that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) have jointly agreed to hold constructive talks with the PTI, aiming to persuade it to abandon protest politics in favor of dialogue. However, he expressed regret that despite the government's genuine efforts, the talks have not been productive due to a lack of cooperation from the other side.

During the ceremony, the Prime Minister praised Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi for setting a one-month completion timeline for the Kashmir Chowk Underpass. He stressed that infrastructure projects like roads, bridges, and underpasses are crucial for societal progress and economic development.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also spoke, stating that the Kashmir Chowk Underpass is part of a series of projects to enhance and beautify Islamabad ahead of the SCO Summit next year. He announced plans to make Islamabad plastic-free by year-end and to digitize its land records, aiming for a cashless capital. Additionally, he highlighted upcoming projects to create a large park similar to F-9 Park and a Safari Park, contributing to a greener federal capital.
