Promotion of Scientific and Technological Education Present Government Top Priority Says Deputy Speaker, National Assembly

Islamabad, June 12, 2012 (PPI-OT): Director General, Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), Dr. Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri called on Faisal Karim Kundi, Deputy Speaker, National Assembly in the Parliament House today. Federal Minister for Science and Technology Mir Changez Khan Jamali was also present on the occasion.

Talking to the DG, ISESCO the Deputy Speaker appreciated the efforts of ISESCO for imparting scientific and technological education in Islamic world. He was of the view that lack of science and technology was main reason behind deprivation of Ummah.

He said that building a strong science and technology base in the country was the top priority of the incumbent government. He said that various steps have been initiated for promotion of Science and Technology in the country. He said that the young generation has a lot of potential and if the provided appropriate opportunities they could meet the present challenges.

He apprised the DG, ISESCO about the formation, function and the organizational setup of the National Assembly and its Standing Committees. He also informed about the formation and objectives of the Young Parliamentarians Forum. He said that YPF consists of 90 members and working for the welfare of the youth in the country.

Director General, ISESCO, Dr. Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri while apprising the Deputy Speaker about future plans of ISESCO he said that the main focus of the ISESCO was the promotion of Education, Science, Technology, information in culture in the member state.

He said that ISESCO was working for enhancing scientific research, and utilizing its core priorities and results in achieving sustainable development. “It also making efforts for activating human resources’ role in the educational system, as well as promoting qualification institutions and training centres, and diversifying training programmes” he said. He appreciated the initiatives taken by government of Pakistan for promotion of scientific and technological education in the country.
