Lahore: Under the guidance of Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, the Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) has significantly ramped up its activities to ensure public safety, smooth traffic flow, and strict compliance with highway laws across the province. This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance road safety, prevent accidents, and improve the effectiveness of crime prevention measures on Punjab’s highways.
According to Punjab Police, the PHP has been vigorously enforcing highway regulations and providing assistance to the public. The performance report for the first half of October reveals substantial activity: 1,284,736 individuals were checked using the e-Police Post app, resulting in the apprehension of 265 wanted criminals and the inspection of 560,388 vehicles. The operations also led to the recovery of 94 stolen vehicles and motorcycles.
The report details further actions taken under axle load management, with 9,537 overloaded vehicles facing legal consequences, and 565 vehicles penalized for the illegal use of gas cylinders. In addition to law enforcement, PHP has played a crucial role in community assistance: issuing 6,649 driving licenses, reuniting 16 missing children with their families, and removing 89 encroachments to facilitate better traffic flow. Moreover, the patrol provided various support services to 4,326 travelers and assisted 6,750 citizens at police service centers.
Dr. Anwar praised the PHP for their diligent efforts and emphasized the importance of their continued dedication to maintaining safety and order on the highways. He highlighted the critical role of the PHP in not only enforcing the law but also in offering essential services that contribute to the safety and well-being of the public.
