Punjab University Vice-Chancellor inaugurates Nazriyati Summer School

Lahore: Punjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran has stated that Pakistan is the most important and strongest country, being having atomic power, among Muslim countries and in this way students have big responsibility to get distinctive place in any field, they choose as career in order to make the country stronger.

He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of Nazriyati Summer School being organized by Nazriya Pakistan Trust (NPT). Chairman NPT and Editor daily Nawa-i-Waqt Majid Nizami, Vice-Chairman NPT Prof Dr Rafique Ahmad, Advisor to VC Col. Ikramullah Khan, Principal School Prof Farah Zeba, renowned columnist Dr Ajmal Niazi, activist of Pakistan Movement Dr M A Soofi and a large number of students were present on the occasion.

Vice-Chancellor Dr Mujahid Kamran said Pakistan came into being as a result of great sacrifices. Pakistan had a unique place for being only atomic power among Muslim countries. He said academic excellence was a key to the survival and supremacy of any country and to attain academic excellence, promote education was a must. The Vice-Chancellor said Almighty Allah had blessed the country with lot of resources including gold and mine reservoirs. He stressed the need to do research and focus on things to get secrets of the universe. Dr Mujahid Kamran asked the students to become researchers so that the paucity of PhD scholars could be met in the country in coming years. He asked whether you become a scientist, doctor, engineer or player, attain glory in that field.

Prof Dr Rafique Ahmad, in his welcome address, said it was an honour that the Vice-Chancellor of the greatest and largest university of the country had inaugurated Nazriyati Summer School. He highly appreciated the efforts of VC Dr Mujahid Kamran in promoting quality higher education and said the Punjab University had been getting academic excellence in his period.

Majid Nizami thanked the Vice-Chancellor and said the purpose of Nazriyat Summer School was to create awareness among students about the difficulties being faced in getting the piece of land (Pakistan) and make them patriotic citizens. He said it was also an honour for both husband and wife for being vice-chancellors of public sector universities of the country.

In the end, Majid Nizami and Prof Dr Rafique Ahmad presented gift of books to Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran.
