Raja Pervez Ashraf reviews power situation
Karachi, June 25, 2012 (PPI-OT): Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf on Sunday presided over a meeting here at the Governor House, to review the power situation in the country.
This meeting was a follow up of yesterday (Saturday) meeting held at the Prime Minister House in Islamabad, in which important decisions were taken to reduce loadshedding on the war-footing.
The Prime Minister was apprised by Sindh Governor Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah that they would hold negotiations with all the stakeholders today and tomorrow to get their cooperation for increasing power generation in the province. For which, they said, gas would be provided from Sindh to the power sector.
The Chief Minister and the Governor assured the Prime Minister that it would be their top consideration to extend all possible support to the Federal Government in reducing load- shedding in the country as soon as possible.
Federal Minister for Petroleum Dr. Asim Hussain informed the Prime Minister that Faisalabad power plant has started its operations as per decision taken in yesterday’s meeting at the PM House. It will produce 65 MW electricity per day, he added.
Others attending the meeting were Federal Minister for Information Qamar Zaman Kaira, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah, Federal Minister for Water and Power Syed Naveed Qamar, Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs Manzoor Ahmed Watto, Federal Minister Nazar Muhammad Gondal.
