Islamabad: Wafaqi Mohtasib Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi has announced that a record number of over two hundred twenty-three thousand complaints were addressed and resolved in his office during the year 2024. He shared this information while briefing media personnel about the performance of the Wafaqi Mohtasib office at the Wafaqi Mohtasib Secretariat.
According to Radio Pakistan, Qureshi revealed that the office received a total of more than two hundred twenty-six thousand complaints, marking a seventeen percent increase compared to the previous year, 2023. The ratio of redressal and resolution also saw a significant enhancement of sixteen percent over the same period.
The Wafaqi Mohtasib highlighted that in 2024, the office achieved an impressive implementation rate of 93.21 percent for its decisions and findings, compared to 85.70 percent in 2023. Additionally, one hundred twenty-six Khuli Katcheries were organized nationwide to provide administrative justice directly at people’s doorsteps.
Furthermore, 171 Outreach Complaint Resolution (OCR) visits were conducted, successfully resolving 4,840 cases. Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi also announced plans to open a new regional office in Dera Ghazi Khan, expanding their presence in twenty-five cities, including Muzaffarabad and Gilgit Baltistan.
Qureshi addressed efforts to assist overseas Pakistanis, noting that a total of 151,897 complaints were received from this group in 2024. He emphasized Pakistan’s role in the international arena, particularly as President of the Asian Ombudsman Association (AOA), where efforts are made to promote Ombudsmanship in Asia and beyond.
Underscoring the importance of raising awareness about this forum, Qureshi mentioned that a well-planned public awareness campaign launched by the office is yielding positive results.
