Rehman Malik announces mega welfare package for welfare of policemen
Islamabad: Minister for Interior A. Rehman Malik on Thursday announced comprehensive package for the welfare of Islamabad police cops and vowed to make this city more secure and protected through the joint efforts.
Addressing Police Darbar here on Thursday here at Police Line Headquarters, the minister for Interior said that efforts made by Islamabad police to cope various challenges including terrorism were very much praiseworthy and several terror attempts had been reduced due to it.
IGP Islamabad Bani Amin Khan, DIG (Security) Dr. Mujeeb ur Rehman, DIG (Headquarters) Ahmed Mukarram, SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan, SSP Headquarters Zubair Ahmed Hashmi, SSP Security Ehsan Abbas, all SPs, SDPOs, SHO and police jawans as well as commandoes were also present on the occasion.
Islamabad Policemen have rendered great sacrifices and its cops also wrote history with their blood to overcome terrorism activities. ” Your professionalism, hard work and sacrifices have helped a lot to ensure protection to the lives and property of the citizens,” he said, adding that
city have been divided into various security layers and police pickets helped a lot to nab criminals.
On the occasion, he announced to set up Police Public School and hostel for the quality education to the children of police employees and directed IGP Islamabad Bani Amin Khan to submit feasibility report in this regard.
He said that Islamabad police would be included on the pool of Estate Office and approval has been taken in this regard. He also announced to resolve the accommodation problem of policemen by setting up Police Housing Society and also to allocate 10 per cent quota for Islamabad police men in housing society for Ministry of Interior.
He said that a committee comprising of IGP Islamabad, DIG Headquarters Ahmed Mukarram, representative from Ministry of Interior and SP Islamabad would locate the piece of land for Police Housing Society and bank loan may be also arranged for it.
He appreciated the policemen serving across the country especially police of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa who have rendered great sacrifices to restore peace in their respective areas.
Minister for Interior also announced to increase the strength of Islamabad Police from 10,000 to 15,000 and set up Sniper Unit as well as separate wing for the security of VIPs. He also announced to reduce duty hours of the policemen, increase in uniform allowance and create posts on deputation basis to ensure effective policing system in the city.
Rehman Malik appreciated the efforts of Islamabad policemen who conducted successful survey in the residential areas of the city and compiled complete record about the tenants and people residing on permanent basis. He said that software and mechanism have been developed to save this record which would be also replicated later in other parts of the country.
Minister for Interior urged the all Estate dealers to get complete information about the tenants before striking any deal with them and inform the relevant police station about it.
He also warned un-registered NGOs working in the country to get registered themselves at earliest with local authorities strict action would be taken against them.
Rehman Malik said that foreigners are respecting the law of land due to high vigilance and sense of responsibility among policemen who intervened them on various occasions. ” Be firm and polite while accomplishing your responsibilities ,” he maintained. Minister for Interior also listened to the problems of the policemen and issued immediate directions to resolve them and equip Islamabad police with sophisticated weapons.
Earlier, IGP Islamabad Bani Amin Khan in his welcome address thanked Minister for Interior to visit Police Line Headquarters only to listen problems of the cops. He also briefed about the security plan in the city and committed to make it more effective for the protection to the lives and property of the citizens.
