Rizwan Saeed Sheikh Calls for Global Attention on Afghan-Origin Terrorism

Washington: Pakistan's Ambassador to the US Rizwan Saeed Sheikh has urged the international community to take immediate notice of the terrorist activities emanating from Afghanistan. Speaking at the prestigious educational institution of the United States, Johns Hopkins, he highlighted Pakistan's prolonged burden of dealing with terrorism and instability originating from Afghanistan.

According to Radio Pakistan, Ambassador Sheikh noted that the intensity and scale of terrorism from Afghanistan have increased. Despite the challenges, Pakistan has maintained patience, but the protection of its citizens' lives and property remains a top priority.

Discussing relations with the US, Ambassador Sheikh emphasized that the relationship between Pakistan and the US is essential and not optional. He stated that the bilateral relations are based on shared interests and should not be influenced by any third country.

Addressing the issue of India, Ambassador Sheikh reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to resolving disputes through negotiations and diplomacy. He asserted that while Pakistan can defend itself if aggression is imposed, the country's priority remains economic recovery rather than engaging in global or regional conflicts.
