Rs 20 Commemorative Coin to be issued from today
Islamabad: The Government of Pakistan has decided to issue Rs 20 Commemorative Coin with effect from 28th May, 2011 in quantity of 100,000 (one hundred thousand) on the occasion of “150 Year Celebrations - Lawrence College, Ghora Gali, Murree”. The coin will be available for public at all field offices of State Bank of Pakistan with effect from 28th May, 2011.
The dimension, design and composition of the coin are as under: Denomination of the Coin is Rs. 20 and Metal Composition is Cupro-Nickel (75% Copper and 25% Nickel). The coin will be round with serration on the edge and a diameter of 30 mm weighing 9.5 Grams.
The waxing crescent moon and a five pointed star facing north-west in rising position is in the centre on the obverse face of the coin. Alongwith periphery on the top of the crescent star is inscribed in wording in Urdu script. Below the crescent and at the top of two springs of wheat with arms curved upward, there is the year of issuance 2011. The face value of the coin in numeral wording “20” in bold letters and in Urdu script are written on the right and left sides of crescent star respectively. A circle of small beads is all along the edge of the coin.
On the reverse side of the coin, monogram of Lawrence College, Ghora Gali, Murree is depicted in the centre. The wording “150 Year Celebrations – Lawrence College Ghora Gali Murree” in English is written on the top of coin alongwith the periphery. There are small beads all along the edge of coin.
The existing Rs. 20 banknotes will continue to be legal tender and will remain in circulation along with Rs. 20 coins. The Federal Government is further pleased to direct that the remedy allowed in the making thereof shall not be exceeding 1/40th by weight.
