Sailor’s grievances to be addressed at earliest: Maritime Affairs Minister
Minister for Maritime Affairs Syed Ali Haider Zaidi says it is top priority of the present government to address the sailor’s grievances at earliest.
In a statement in Islamabad on Saturday, he said Ministry of Maritime Affairs has established a complaint cell in this regard which is being updated daily to learn about the seafarers’ issues and to address them in effective way.
Zaidi said, to reduce the physical interaction of sailors with government shipping office, an online interface is under process that is expected to be launched next month.
He said funds have also been allocated to set up a dedicated and upgraded infrastructure at NADRA for issuance of machine readable SID Cards.
He said the Ministry is aggressively pursuing the availability of OK to Board facility to Pakistani seafarers for employment on Foreign Vessels.
