Qatar wins AVC Challenge Cup 2024 defeating Pakistan

In the final match of Asian Volleyball Confederation Challenge Cup in Bahrain, Qatar defeated Pakistan with a score of 3-0 last night.

Qatar won all of the sets with scores of 25-22, 25-20 and 25-19 to take the title home for the first time.

3-day National Spring Festival concludes in Orakzai

A three-day National Spring Festival concluded in the picturesque Orakzai District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Regional and national sports competitions were held in the festival, which was organized jointly by Frontier Corps North, District Administration and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Sports Directorate.

During the festival, bike and jeep rally, tug of war, kabaddi, wrestling, gymnastics, stone lifting, archery and other local sports competitions were held. The paragliders also performed brilliantly and received great applause from the audience. Beautiful camel and horse dances were also the part of the festival.

Inspector General Frontier Corps North was the chief guest of the festival, who distributed prizes among the players for their excellent performances.

A large number of young people, including local elders, school, college and university students, participated in the festival.

Govt taking major steps to empower women in region: GB CM

Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Haji Gulbar Khan says provincial government is taking major steps to empower women in the region.

Talking to UN Women’s representative in Pakistan Lansana Wenneh in Gilgit, Chief Minister said Government of Gilgit-Baltistan is also working in remote and backward areas for women’s empowerment.

He said government of Gilgit-Baltistan has established the Soni Juwari Center for Public Policy for the first time at the provincial level for research and policies.

On this occasion, the representative of UN Women in Pakistan, while appreciating the initiatives of the Gilgit-Baltistan government regarding the empowerment of women, said that the representation of women in the provincial cabinet is a reflection of the government’s vision regarding the empowerment of women.

He said with partnership of the government, UN Women wants to work for the welfare of women in Gilgit-Baltistan and for the betterment of women in remote areas.

Pakistan Railways earned over Rs70b till May

Pakistan Railways has earned over seventy billion rupees till last month despite financial crisis due to floods of 2022.

According to Official sources, the department is expecting to generate up to eighty billion rupees revenues by end of this financial year.

At present, Pakistan Railways is operating around ninety six passenger trains.

Training program (Safar-e-Mualim) organized for teachers belonging to Balochistan

A training program (Safar-e-Mualim) was organized for teachers belonging to government schools of Balochistan in Quetta.

Nearly seventy teachers from all districts of Balochistan participated in the training program, which was aimed at improving the quality of education in Balochistan.

During the training program, psychologists provided guidance to teachers on the trends and causes of extremism.

Various panel discussions were held in the training program and books and laptops were also distributed to motivate the teachers.

Pak Army organizes free autism screening camp in Aliabad, Hunza

Free Autism Screening Camp was organized by Pakistan Army at District Headquarters Hospital in Aliabad, Hunza.

A lecture was also arranged in the camp on autism awareness for people and parents.

Pakistan Army has always been conducting free camps in the remote areas and the local people appreciated and thanked this initiative of Pak Army.
