Sehrai condemns CASOs, arrest of youth in IOK
Srinagar, January 13, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, senior APHC leader and the Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH) Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, has condemned the frequent cordon and search operations and arrest of youth by Indian police in south Kashmir.
Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai in a statement issued in Srinagar said the search operations are the collective punishment being inflicted on the people in the winter months. He said the Indian forces have unleashed fear across the south Kashmir by launching frequent CASOs during which people of all ages are asked to stay out of their houses in the biting cold for hours together, he added.
Ashraf Sehrai also denounced the arbitrary arrest of the Chairman of Islami Tanzeem Azadi, Abdul Samad Inquilabi and two other youth, Tawseef Lone, and Suhail Parray of Bandipora, under draconian Public Safety Act (PSA) and their shifting to Kot Bhalwal Jail, Jammu.
Reacting to the Army chief, General Bipin Rawat’s statement that misinformation campaign on social media has radicalized Kashmiri youth, he said Kashmir liberation movement has been going on since 1947 when social media did not exist. “The people of Kashmir are neither misinformed nor is this indigenous struggle driven by social media platforms,” he added.
He said General Rawat is deliberately issuing such statements and labeling educated Kashmiris as radicalized just to hoodwink the world. He should be in know of the fact that people of Kashmir have been demanding their right to self-determination peacefully since 1947 when such media platform did not even exist, Sehrai maintained.
Ashraf Sehrai said before labeling Kashmiris radicalized, he should realize that Kashmiris are not fighting any nation or any political party but striving for its just rights which had been promised to them seven decades ago by the international community including the first Prime Minister of India.
