Sehrai, Ganai and others arrested in Pulwama
Srinagar, February 03, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Indian police arrested Tehreek-e-Hurriyet leaders, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai and Dr Ghulam Muhammad Ganai along with their associates from Newa area of Pulwama, today. The Hurriyet leaders were on their way to address a Seerat Conference in Darbagam, Pulwama. They were lodged at Kakpora Police Station.
Meanwhile, the spokesman of the forum patronised by the veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, in a statement issued in Srinagar strongly condemned the arrest of Hurriyet leaders and described it interference in the religious affairs of Muslims. He said that no Muslim would tolerate prevention from holding religious functions.
On the other hand, despite the arrest of these leaders, Seerat Conference was organised as per its schedule. Those who spoke on the occasion included Maulana Bashir Ahmed Farooqi, Altaf Ahmed Nadvi and Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Andrabi.
Addressing the conference over phone from New Delhi, Syed Ali Gilani, urged the Kashmiris to forge greater unity among their ranks to take the ongoing liberation movement to its logical conclusion.
