Senate continues discussion on finance bill 2022-23

The Senate is continuing discussion on the finance bill 2022-23.

Participating in the debate, Irfan Siddiqui said more resources should be diverted to the education sector including higher education.

He proposed the establishment of an endowment fund for education. He said salaries of lower grades should be enhanced more than those of higher grades.

He said political chaos and instability is the cause of the dire economic situation of the country.

Shibli Faraz voiced concerns over increasing petroleum prices saying this will badly impact the poor and middle class.

Muhammad Tahir Bizenjo said the government has presented a balanced budget in difficult economic situation. He emphasized the need for promoting industrial and agriculture sectors besides ensuring rule of law to take the country towards self-reliance.

Ejaz Ahmad Chaudhary said the way the PTI government handled Covid-19 pandemic has been appreciated worldwide.  He said the previous government also started construction work on ten dams.

The house has now been adjourned to meet again tomorrow at ten thirty am.
