Senator Raisani visits Iran- negotiates electricity supply deal

Islamabad: Senator Nawabzada Mir Haji Lashkari Raisani, Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Water and Power visited Iran to negotiate import of electricity for the border areas of Balochistan province besides supply of additional power. He was accompanied by Senator Muhammad Ismail Buledi and senior official of PEPCO.

He said that meetings in Iran remained highly successful and MOU was signed for supply of additional capacity of 35MW through existing jackigur (Iran)-Mand (Pakistan) 132KV transmission line subject to technical suitability.

He expressed the hope that additional capacity will be supplied as early as possible and will be helpful in solving the problem of load shedding in border areas of Balochistan.

He pointed out that the government had signed an agreement of 35MW electricity provision in 2003 due to which many of Makran Villages were electrified.

He said all out efforts were being made to overcome the crises.
