Shahbuddin Market shops to be sold under Public Housing Scheme, says Metropolitan Commissioner
Karachi, June 08, 2012 (PPI-OT): Metropolitan Commissioner Matanat Ali Khan said that shops on Ground and Mezzanine floor of Shahabuddin Market in Saddar will be sold under the Public Housing Scheme.
He said this while chairing a meeting on Shahbuddin Market which was attended by Senior Director Transport and Communication Muhammad Ather, Project Director Muhammad Taha, Director Public Housing Scheme Saba Islam and other officers.
He said that KMC would generate revenue through selling shops of Shahbuddin Market under Public Housing Scheme. He further said that for this scheme a scheduled bank of Pakistan would be selected to receive the applications through its branches in all over Pakistan and Overseas.
The banners for the advertisement of this scheme would be fixed on important locations in the city. He said that the plan for sale under Public Housing Scheme had been made in order to ensure maximum participation of the people in this scheme.
This may be noted Governor of Sindh Dr. Ishrat-ul- Ibad Khan had inaugurated this project in January this year. Metropolitan Commissioner said that the construction work on this project was underway speedily to complete this project in time.
He said that it was an important project according to the need of this area. The shifting of shops in Empress Market would resolve the traffic jam problem in a huge area.
He further said that 5th floor Car Parking Plaza would be constructed in this project and in its first phase 176 shopkeepers would gradually be shifted on lower ground floor whereas the shops constructed at Mezzanine floor would be sold under Public Housing Scheme and this plan would take 15 months to complete.
According to KMC the construction work for making Gujar Nala Liaquatabad wider was on fast track and placing guards on construction site would take place at midnight of Friday and Saturday. And for this purpose In charge Traffic Police Liaquatabad Central District had been directed to arrange the alternate way.
