Signature campaign completed in Aldershot UK
Aldershot, December 22, 2012 (PPI-OT): The Signature Campaign initiated by the Kashmir Centre London in the UK to seek debate on Kashmir in the House of Commons has been completed in the Aldershot Constituency. The event was organised by Chaudhry Mohammed Farooq, President Jamia Masjid at Aldershot, and Chaudhry Mohammed Khan, member of AJK Council. A delegation of the Kashmir Centre headed by its Executive Director, Professor Nazir Ahmed Shawl, and comprising Mohammad Ayub, President of the Advisory Council and Chaudhry Sabir Hussain, Chief Co-ordinator, supervised the Campaign.
Speaking on the occasion, Professor Shawl described the Kashmiri Diaspora as the ambassadors of the Kashmir cause and hoped that the parliamentarians in different constituencies in different parts of the UK would take cognizance of the petition and help in holding a full-fledged debate in the House of Commons.
He said, it is a unified demand of all the Kashmiris that the gross human rights violations taking place in occupied Kashmir should be stopped and the Kashmiri people should be given their right of self-determination as promised by the United Nations through its resolutions.
Chaudhry Mohammad Khan, member of the AJK Council, and Chaudhry Mohammed Saleem, Mayor of Aldershot, assured their complete cooperation in all the efforts being made by the Kashmir Centre London to highlight the Kashmir cause. Mohammed Ayub thanked the organisers for completing the Signature Campaign in their constituency. The petition will now be handed over to the Member of Parliament after Christmas.
