Sindh Government Unveils Free Scooty Programme for Women

Karachi: The Sindh Government has launched an ambitious programme aimed at empowering women by providing five million free scooties across the province. The initiative was marked with a ceremony organized by the Sindh Transport and Mass Transit Department in Karachi, coinciding with International Women's Day. During the event, three hundred Pink Electric Scooties were distributed to women, signaling the commencement of this significant empowerment drive.

According to Radio Pakistan, Senior Minister for Information and Transport Sharjeel Inam Memon highlighted the eligibility criteria for women applying for the scooty. Applicants are required to present a permanent driving license in addition to proof of education or employment. The programme is designed not only to provide mobility but also to ensure the safety and independence of women by offering free driving training. This training aims to equip women with the skills necessary for safe travel, thereby fostering their independence and enhancing their ability to participate actively in the workforce and community.
