Special children visit Karachi ZOO

Karachi: Administrator KMC Muhammad Hussain Syed has said that physically or mentally handicapped people were not a burden on our society and they could be made useful member of society by providing them with better education and training.

He said this during a meeting with the special children from various schools in Karachi who were on Monday visiting Karachi Zoo on the invitation of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation. Senior Director Community Development Muhammad Rehan Khan, Director Zoo Bashir Khan Saddozai and other officers and teachers of special children were also present on this occasion.

Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed said special children have lot of abilities and they would prove important member of society if encouraged. They would then help us instead of becoming burden on us.

He said it was the duty of KMC to provide quality and economical recreation facilities to citizens of Karachi. Restoration and renovation process in Karachi Zoo was underway rapidly. More new animals and birds will soon begin arriving in this week which would further enhance the charm of zoo.

Administrator Karachi said Renovation work of Mughal Garden was already completed where different kinds of programs will be held for citizens. Besides government school children, private schools will also be invited to bring their students in the zoo so that the children could get the opportunity to see the wild life and learn lot of things about the animals and birds.

He said the environment in Karachi Zoo has also been made friendly and security was provided for visitors so that the children and women could feel themselves safe and secure while their journey to Karachi Zoo. Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed said KMC was organizing various types of educational, social and cultural programs in the city and the old book fair had also been resumed.

Safari Park was also started renovating and the Fish Aquarium in Landhi was completed. He said KMC has planned to invite leprosy patients at Karachi Zoo on the eve of World Leprosy Day. Physically handicapped people will be provided with wheel chair in zoo and the wild life experts will provide guidance to visitors so that the people especially children could avail the opportunity of getting useful information about animals and birds.
