Special committee on agricultural products constituted: Asad Qaiser
Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser says a special committee on agricultural products has been constituted to safeguard the rights of farmers.
Addressing a ceremony with regard to celebrate Kissan Day in Islamabad on Wednesday, he said the committee was set up in the National Assembly for the first time in which representatives from all the political parties, agricultural experts and various research institutions were included to uplift the agriculture sector.
He said agriculture is a vast field that demands to carry out extraordinary task to boost economy of the country.
The Speaker stressed the need for promotion of exports through adopting a proper mechanism of marketing in the best interest of country.
He said development and prosperity of farmers is prerequisite for development and prosperity of the country.
Speaking on the occasion, Kashmir Committee Chairman Syed Fakhar Imam said agriculture is a noble profession and farmers are backbone of our economy.
He said we will have to make investment in our human resource and agriculture sector to enhance and encourage exports.
He said China Pakistan Economic Corridor project will prove to be a milestone in uplifting the quality of living standard of the masses.
Expressing his views, Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Yao Jing paid rich tribute to the hard working farmers of Pakistan. He said agriculture provides basic foundation to the economy.
He said Pakistan and China are moving closer in the agricultural cooperation. He said we have also established agriculture joint working group under the CPEC.
He said we are also working with the government of Pakistan to set up ten agricultural research centres in Pakistan.
The Chinese Ambassador said his country is committed to share technology as well as experience with Pakistan in the agriculture sector.
