Sports Board Punjab website officially launched – Press Note issued by Sports Board Punjab
Lahore, July 13, 2012 (PPI-OT): The influx of visits to Sports Board Punjab website is gaining momentum as over a hundred thousand people of different age groups have accessed for information regarding participation in the Punjab Youth and Sports Festival 2012 to be held here after Eid.
This was stated by Deputy Speaker Punjab Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan while talking to media after officially launching the website, www.sportsportal.punjab.gov.pk here on Friday. He said it was heartening sign that people are showing great interest in getting information to get themselves involved in the festival. Secretary Sports Punjab, Haroon Ahmed Khan and Director General, Sports Board Punjab Usman Anwar were also present on the occasion.
He said that registration for participation in the Punjab Youth Festival as volunteer is open now and at the time of its launch there were around 40,000 entries from people for assistance while the suggestion box was filled in by 60,000 submissions.
Rana Mashhood, who is also chairman organizing committee sports Punjab, further informed that the Portal is user friendly and two way interactive interface with a search engine.
“It is the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif to give direction and bring happiness on the face of people at a time when there is dejection and gloom all around due to corruption, terrorism and load-shedding,” said Mashhood.
“It was his vision that Punjab took lead in formulating and launching the Youth Policy and it was his idea that Sports Board Punjab under Usman Anwar, Director General Sports, organized a successful Punjab Sports Festival,” he added.
“Now we are focus of world attention’s for holding the Punjab Youth Festival. Other countries are following our path and are pointing out they will beat Punjab in our record smashing festival,” he maintained.
Apart from all the details of the Festival and in archives the previously held Punjab Sports Festival, the Sports Portal also have links to social media sites like facebook, YouTube, twitter, Wikipedia and G+.
“The website is active 24 hours a day and a team of professionals are working round the clock to respond to the people’s queries. And on social page of SBP on Facebook there are around 10,000 likes out of which 60 percent came from the young generation with a ratio 48 percent age group of 18 to 24 years while 12 percent are 13-17 years. The like don’t stop here but people from different countries and languages have also liked the vision we have portrayed on the Sports Portal,” he added.
He further informed that 14,180,00 have visited the Facebook page and there were 250 twits since last night.
Rana Mashhood also informed about the endowment fund for the brilliant and talented youngsters. “We want to portray the true colour of Punjab and the day is not far away when there will be mass participation from the province in different competitions at national and international level,” he added.
