Lahore, December 12, 2014 (PPI-OT): The LCCI Vice President Syed Mahmood Ghaznavi has urged the government to allow duty free import of raw material for High Carbon Steel Wires industry as existing 5 to 10 percent duty is too high and causing multiple problems.

He was talking to a delegation of All Pakistan High Carbon Steel Wires Manufacturers Association here at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Fawad Shamsi, Imran Khan and other members of the delegation also spoke on the occasion.

LCCI Vice President said High Carbon Steel is being used in construction industry, bridges, spring industry, pre-cast industry, auto sector and various others while also providing employment to around 50 thousand people therefore government should take measures on war footing to save this important industry.

He said that import duty should be zero on raw material of High Carbon Steel Wires Industry as it was not being produced locally. He said that it would be a great favor the people attached with this high value industry. He further said that there was a same HS code for High Carbon Steel and Low Carbon Steel which should be separated.
