Caretaker CM Mohsin Naqvi Chaired a Meeting to Review Steps Being Taken for Jail Reforms

Lahore, April 03, 2023 (PPI-OT):Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi presided over a special meeting at CM Office in which steps being taken for jail reforms and provision of basic facilities to the prisoners were reviewed. On the direction of Mohsin Naqvi an agreement has been finalised between the Prisons department and PKLI for the treatment of prisoners suffering from kidney and liver ailments.

Mohsin Naqvi directed to prepare Tower Type latest design of jails and new jails will be equipped with the latest facilities and security gadgets. On the special direction of Mohsin Naqvi it has been principally decided to undertake further TEVTA courses for the prisoners in 10 jails.

On the direction of Mohsin Naqvi the conversation duration of prisoners with their family members has been increased from 20 minutes to 35 minutes. It was reviewed during the meeting to formulate a mechanism of international calling facility for the foreign prisoners.

The punishment of prisoners will be remitted or will be given relief on completing religious education, technical education and a degree. Mohsin Naqvi directed that permission for participation of a prisoner in the death of a near relative should be ensured. The proposal to establish IT Centres in prisons so as to enlighten the prisoners with the latest technology was reviewed during the meeting. Mohsin Naqvi asserted that no compromise should be made on the diet and its quality for the prisoners.

It was informed during the briefing that a quality wool will be provided for carpeting in the prisons.20 thousand prisoners have completed their TEVTA training courses across Punjab prisons. The prisoners are given samosas and pakoras to break their fasts during Ramadan.6320 prisoners are compelled to remain in jails due to pendency of their appeals and it was agreed to approach the respective courts for early dispensation of pending appeals.

Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Secretary Primary and Secondary Health Care, Inspector General of Prisons, Executive Director Punjab Institute of Mental Health Lahore and concerned officials attended the meeting.

PFA Unearths Fake Beverages Unit, confiscates 2,043 Litres Fizzy Drinks

Lahore, April 03, 2023 (PPI-OT):The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has unearthed a fake beverages manufacturing unit producing carbonated drinks of different popular brands while confiscating thousands of litres of substandard fizzy drinks and machinery during a raid on a house in Kamoke.

The new Director General of PFA Raja Jahangir Anwar said that acting on the tipoff of vigilance cell, the operation was conducted under the supervision of deputy director operation and caught the adulteration mafia red-handed. Meanwhile, PFA has registered a case against the manufacturer on account of adulteration and forger.

He said that the food authority has rooted out the fake beverages unit after confiscating 2,043 litres beverages; 1,000 empty bottles, filling plant, gas cylinder, artificial flavours, packing material, lids and fake labelling. Raja Jahangir said that fake beverages were being prepared with prohibited and harmful chemicals just for minting money. The raiding team also found the contamination of artificial sweeteners and unclean water in the soft drinks, he said.

He further said that fake beverages were to be supplied to the different small shops, hotels and marriage halls; however, the raiding team ruined their unholy ambitions by taking timely action in the holy month of Ramadan.

The director general said that the use of spurious drinks prepared without formula might lead to diseases. He added that it’s compulsory for any food business operators to comply with the Punjab Pure Food Regulations. People should adopt nutritious food on a daily basis to keep themselves healthy and energetic, he added.

Caretaker Health Minister Dr. Javed Akram Visited Mayo Hospital

Lahore, April 03, 2023 (PPI-OT):Caretaker Provincial Health Minister Dr. Javed Akram visited Naziran Bibi under treatment in May Hospital’s surgical tower. With the personal efforts of the caretaker provincial health minister Dr. Javed Akram, the Pakistan Army and Rescue 1122 have shifted Naziran Bibi to Mayo Hospital Lahore through Air Ambulance.

The caretaker Provincial Health Minister, Dr. Javed Akram, expressed his opinion and said that the CEO of Mayo Hospital, Prof. Haroon Hamid and MS, have received Naziran Bibi. Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi is monitoring the entire matter. Health Secretary Dr. Ahmed Javed Qazi and Vice Chancellor King Edward Medical University Professor Dr. Mahmoud Ayaz are commended for playing a role in shifting the patient.

Patient Nazeeran Bibi’s condition is out of danger. Patient Nazeeran Bibi will be put on ventilator now. The medical board will decide for further treatment of patient Nazeeran Bibi. Mayo hospital administration has counselled the family members of patient Nazeeran Bibi in this regard. The relatives have expressed their satisfaction regarding the treatment. The management of Mayo Hospital has also arranged accommodation and food for the relatives of the patient Naziran Bibi and all kinds of medicines are being provided free of charge for the treatment of the patient.
