Transparency in selection of Commercial Councilors / Trade Ministers urged: Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry
Islamabad, July 08, 2013 (PPI-OT): The 1st meeting of FPCCI Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs was held at Federation House Karachi which was presided over by Ms. Anum Niaz, Chairperson of the said Standing Committee.
The meeting was also attended by Mr. Naveed Jan Baloch, Acting President and Mr. Gulzar Firoz, Vice President of FPCCI and Mr. Humayun Sayeed, Chairman FPCCI Standing committee on Diplomatic Affairs; Mr. Abid Ali Abid, Chairman Dan-Pak Chamber of Commerce and Industry and other members of the FPCCI Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs.
The meeting, inter-alia, also recommended that Pakistan should also promote social trade, stop brain drain and use public diplomacy to improve trade relations. The meeting underscored the need to determine and observe the criteria for the proper selection / appointment of Commercial Councilors of Pakistan deputed in foreign countries, imparting them professional training and create research and development facility as these are the key factors in enhancing trade relations with foreign countries and achieving the trade targets.
The Chairperson also gave a brief description about the aims and objectives of her Standing Committee disclosing that it will soon formulate concrete proposals and suggestions in the ambit of the Foreign Affairs Standing Committee of FPCCI.
