Unanimous nomination for Chief Election Commissioner another mile Stone of Coalition Government: Minister
Islamabad, July 11, 2012 (PPI-OT): Hailing the nomination of Justice (retd) Fakhruddin G. Ibrahim as new Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) will make electoral process fully transparent and prove to be another mile stone of coalition government in quest to strengthen democracy, said Sardar Talib Hassan Nakai, Federal Minister for Housing.
The Minister, in a statement issued here on Wednesday, congratulated the nominated CEC and praised the “political maturity of political forces who accorded their unanimous decision to this much-awaited constitutional slot.”
He termed Mr. Fakhruddin’s name for CEC “a ray of hope for masses as well as for all the political forces” and expressed his confidence that the neutral and credible Election Commission will lead to free, fair and transparent elections in the country giving people a chance to elect their representatives according to their free will and aspirations that is the real solution to all the confronting problems.
Appreciating coalition government’s sincerity to build the institution of Election Commission, he said the adoption of name of a renowned jurist of the country, Fakhruddin, was reflective of the fact that the political leadership is fully committed of holding transparent elections in the country and were striving hard to resolve all the problems through political dialogue, spirit of reconciliation and parliamentary norms.
“Justice ® Fakkuruddin is known for his honesty, credibility and principles and by his accepting the challenge to hold free, fair and transparent elections in the country”, has given confidence to the people that a new positive political culture will further promote and strengthen the political process that is a good omen for Pakistan.
