Prime Minister's Coordinator on Climate Change Romina Khurshid Alam has emphasized robust waste management strategies to safeguard the delicate ecosystem of Deosai National Park. She was talking to Honorary Ambassador for Wildlife, Sardar Jamal Khan Leghari, who called on her in Islamabad today. Romina Khurshid Alam said solid waste generation from visitors and inadequate resources for proper park management are major issues affecting the Deosai Park. She said a well-planned waste management system would not only protect the park's biodiversity but also promote sustainable tourism and support the local community. The Prime Minister's Coordinator suggested banning disposable plastic items in the park and stressed on raising awareness among visitors to address this environmental challenge. Jamal Khan Leghari briefed the PM's Coordinator about his recent visit to Deosai National Park and highlighted that the park generates substantial income from tourism. He recommended initiating road maintenance from Chi llam to Sadpara Check Post, increasing number of staff for the protection of wildlife in Deosai and relocating different check posts to improve accessibility and convenience for visitors to the Park.
