09 outlaws arrested; drugs and weapons recovered

Islamabad, March 27, 2023 (PPI-OT): Islamabad capital police apprehended nine outlaws from different areas of the city and recovered drugs and weapons with ammunition from their possession, a police public relations officer said. He said that, following the special directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan, the Islamabad capital police has intensified crackdown against the criminal elements in order to eliminate the crime from the city.

Following these directives, the Phulgran police team arrested two accused namely Tariq Masih and Jan Zeb involved in drug peddling and recovered 515-gram heroin and 640-gram hashish from their possession. Likewise, the Sabzi Mandi police team arrested an accused namely Ali Raza for possessing illegal weapons and recovered one dagger from his possession.

Similarly, the Margalla police team arrested an accused namely Muhammad Azam involved in drug peddling and recovered 520-gram hashish from his possession. The Sangjani police team arrested four accused namely Sabir Hussain, Muhammad Sadiq, Zohaib and Usman involved in drug peddling and possessing illegal weapons and recovered 1735-gram hashish, 100-gram Ice, one 30 bore pistol with ammunition and dagger from their possession.

Moreover, the Phulgran police team arrested an accused namely Azhar Mehmood involved in selling liquor and recovered 20 liters liquor from his possession. Cases have been registered against the nabbed accused and further investigation is underway.

IGP Islamabad directed all senior officials for effective crackdown against the accused involved in drug peddling and possessing illegal weapons. The performance of police officials in this regard would be reviewed on a regular basis, he maintained.

Sindh governor’s arrival at Hussainabad food street, 5th sehri

Karachi, March 27, 2023 (PPI-OT): Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tesori on the fifth Suhri of Ramadan at Hussainabad Food Street. The people present on this occasion were pleasantly surprised to find Sindh Governor in their presence on the famous food street of the city.

Governor Sindh said that the purpose of going to public is to make people aware of their problems, in this regard I feel proud of the title of public governor. He further said that iftar will continue in the governor’s house all the days of Ramadan because the people are worried about the inflation, the administration should go to the markets, in this regard the visit of the ministers and members of the assembly to the savings markets is welcome.

He said that people understand that when they get positions, the rulers cut off contact with the people, but I will go to some food street every day to meet the people because I really want to meet the people and go among them. I am happy. He said that Karachi is the center of the country’s economy and there is no law-and-order problem in it.

Governor Sindh celebrated the fourth Suhri of Ramadan at Aslam Road

Karachi, March 27, 2023 (PPI-OT): Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tesori celebrated the fourth Suhri of Ramadan at the famous Nahari House in the old part of the city on Aslam Road. Governor Sindh said that the purpose of going to public is to make people aware of their problems.

On this occasion, the people present there expressed their opinion and said that in this tension of suffocation, they feel pure happiness to have the governor in their midst. Kamran Khan Tesori said that he is proud of the title of Awami Governor, iftar will continue in the governor’s house all the days in Ramadan.

Governor Sindh said that the people are worried about the inflation, the administration should go to the markets and ensure the sale of items according to the rate list. Government making hectic efforts to provide relief to masses: NA told

Islamabad, March 27, 2023 (PPI-OT): The National Assembly, which met at Parliament House in Islamabad on Monday with Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf in the chair, was informed that the government is making hectic efforts to provide relief to the common man keeping in view the current inflationary trends. Responding to the queries of the members during Question Hour in the House today, Minister of State for Finance Aisha Ghaus Pasha said we have enhanced the stipends under Benazir Income Support Program to support the deserving families.

She said, Ramadan package has also been given to provide essential commodities to the people at reduced rates. She said the government is also planning to provide targeted subsidy on petroleum products. The Minister of State said it is our effort to bring down the inflation which has both domestic and international factors. She said we need the cooperation of the provinces to check the price hike.

Aisha Ghaus Pasha said the government is also giving priority to the tax revenue mobilization in view of the current economic challenges and to reduce deficits. She said a committee has been formed to expedite tax cases pending in different courts. Responding to a question, the Minister of State said the government is committed to an interest-free economy. She said a committee has been constituted and deliberations are underway to prepare a transformational plan in this regard.

Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Murtaza Javed Abbassi told the House that National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has received data of the houses destroyed in recent floods from the three provinces, while data from two federating units is still awaited.

He said minimum compensation for fully damaged houses has been revised up to five hundred thousand rupees and for partially damaged houses, it has been fixed at two hundred and fifty thousand rupees. Responding to a Calling Attention Notice, Minister of State for Interior Abdul Rehman Khan Kanju said FIA is taking steps to check human trafficking with the cooperation of international organizations.

He said the capacity building of the relevant departments is also being done to deal with this menace. Meanwhile, the Protection of Journalists and Media Professionals Amendment Bill, 2023 and the Press, Newspapers, News Agencies and Books Registration Amendment Bill, 2023 were also laid before the House.

Prime Minister directs to provide free flour to elderly, sick persons on priority basis

Islamabad, March 27, 2023 (PPI-OT): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited free flour distribution centers in Bahawalpur today and expressed satisfaction on the process of distribution. He visited flour distribution centers established at Abbasia High School and Dring Stadium in the city and expressed satisfaction over the process of distribution.

The prime Minister issued directions to provide free flour to elderly and sick persons on priority basis. He also directed to provide two bags of flour to the deserving people to save them from repeated visits to the distribution centers.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif also visited Multan on Sunday and inspected free flour distribution center established at Sports Ground. He examined the process from registration to delivery of flour to the registered deserving families and expressed his satisfaction on the arrangements.

The Prime Minister listened to the complaints of people and directed authorities to solve these immediately. The Prime Minister was told that 34 free flour distribution centers have been established in Multan district to distribute around 2.6 million bags of flour among 850,000 families.

Government providing relief to low-income people: Prime Minister

Islamabad, March 27, 2023 (PPI-OT): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif says the government is making all efforts to providing relief to low-income people. He was talking to media during his visit at free flour distribution centers in Rawalpindi on Monday. The Prime Minister directed the authorities concerned to ensure resolving issues related to flour distribution. He said elderly people and women should be provided flour on priority basis.

He said special counters in collaboration with the National Database Registration Authority and Punjab Information Technology Board will be opened at distribution centers to register people, who are not registered with Benazir Income Support Programme.

Shehbaz Sharif said three bags of flour will be provided to people one time to save their time and transportation expenses. He it is for the first time in the history of the country that free flour is being distributed. The Prime Minister expressed the hope that flour distribution process will be improved gradually.

He said one hundred million people will be benefitted from this programme, launched in the holy month of Ramadan to help the needy people. He lauded administration and police for maintaining discipline at flour distribution centers. During the visit, he directed the authorities concerned to ensure resolving issues related to flour distribution.

PTI Chief doesn’t want elections but selection again: Marriyum

Islamabad, March 27, 2023 (PPI-OT): Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb says the PTI Chief Imran Khan is not interested in elections in the country, but he wants his selection as Prime Minister again. Addressing a news conference in Lahore, she said the people of Pakistan remember Imran Khan’s tenure as a ‘black chapter in the history of the country.

The information minister said the people are paying the price of Imran’s four year misrule which was marked by corruption, incompetence and inefficiency. She said the PML-N is the only party that revived the national economy in the past and it would again provide relief to the masses by overcoming inflation and unemployment.
