2023 China International Big Data Industry Expo confirmed 93 enterprises to participate in the exhibition including Huawei and Alibaba

GUIYANG, China, March 20, 2023 /Xinhua-AsiaNet/– On March 17, it is learned from the exhibition group of 2023 China International Big Data Industry Expo Executive Committee that so far 93 enterprises including China Electronics Corporation, Huawei and Alibaba have confirmed to participate in the Expo, which will be held from May 26th to 28th this year.

The Expo exhibition group general contact Luo Geng introduced that this year the Expo will set up six offline theme exhibition halls, including international pavilion, east number west calculation pavilion, digital industry pavilion, industry digital pavilion, innovation scene pavilion and digital life pavilion. The Expo plans to attract 320 enterprises to exhibition, focusing on new technologies, new products, new plans, new applications of big data field, and the exhibition area covers 60,000 square meters. The Expo exhibition group has issued invitations to big data industry-related enterprises to participate. Now, 93 enterprises have been confirmed to participate in the exhibition, including 12 international enterprises and 81 domestic enterprises.

The Expo will roll out professional customized exhibition routes. Focusing on the needs of enterprises and the hot areas of the industry, the professional customized exhibition routes will be designed such as “east number and west calculation”, data element circulation, intelligent manufacturing, data security, smart city and cloud services and so on.

Japan provides additional 5.58 million USD to strengthen Weather Forecasting in Pakistan

Islamabad, March 20, 2023 (PPI-OT):The Government of Japan decided to increase the amount of a grant aid for “the Project for Installation of Weather Surveillance Radar in Multan” from 2.042 billion Japanese Yen (equivalent to around 14.99 million USD) to 2.8 billion Japanese Yen (equivalent to around 20.57 million USD).

The original Notes to this effect were signed and exchanged between two governments on 31 August 2018. Responding to the request from the Government of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, this time, the Government of Japan decided to provide additional amount of 760 million Japanese Yen (equivalent to around 5.58 million USD) for this project. The Notes to this effect for provision of additional amount were signed and exchanged between Mr. ITO Takeshi, Charge d’ Affaires ad interim of Japan to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and Dr. Kazim Niaz, Secretary, Ministry of Economic Affairs.

Pakistan is prone to natural disasters such as floods and landslides caused by heavy torrential rains, tropical cyclones and earthquakes. This results in heavy damages, particularly, due to floods triggered by monsoon rains. The Japanese government has been assisting Pakistan proactively, in the enhancement of weather surveillance capacity since the 1980s, in order to mitigate the damage by flood. Including the additional amount pledged today, the total amount of Japanese assistance for weather surveillance radars in Pakistan has reached about 11.3 billion Japanese Yen (equivalent to around 82.9 million USD).

So far Japan has supported the installation of 6 weather radars in the cities of Islamabad, Karachi, Dera Ismail Khan, Rahim Yar Khan, Multan (ongoing) and Sukkur (ongoing) and will cover 80% of the country and benefit 90% of the whole population. The weather radar network will surely contribute to further strengthening the weather forecasting capability in Pakistan and help Pakistan become more resilient to future natural disasters.

In the signing ceremony, Mr. Ito stated, “This project will enhance PMD’s capabilities, it will be able to disseminate information and deliver more accurate weather forecast, it will be able to send out warnings to protect life and properties of the people in Pakistan. The whole population of the country will be benefitted.”

WAPDA crowned 10th National Archery Champion 2023; Win trophy with 3 gold, 2 silver, 1 bronze medals

Lahore, March 20, 2023 (PPI-OT):WAPDA reigned supreme in archery too, as it crowned National Archery Champion 2023. WAPDA won 10th DHA National Archery Championship with three gold, two bronze and one silver medals, while Pakistan Army finished as the runners-up with two gold, three silver and one bronze medals in the event.

According to the details, WAPDA women’s team comprising Kiran Muhammad, Nighet Naheed and Sadia Mai won gold medal in Women’s team event, while WAPDA’s archer Mubashar Nazar grabbed gold medal in Men’s and WAPDA’s archer Sadia Mai in Women’s event.

The Championship was held at Lahore under the aegis of Pakistan Archery Federation. Besides WAPDA and Pakistan Army, the teams hailing from DHA Lahore, HEC, Police, Railways, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Sindh and Gilgit Baltistan participated in the Championship.

Chairman PPP launches 1200-bedded Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases Korangi

Karachi, March 20, 2023 (PPI-OT):Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto performed a ground-breaking ceremony of the 12000-bedded Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases at Korangi. The ceremony was attended by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Federal Health Minister Qadir Patel, Provincial Health Minister Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, Senator Nisar Khuhro, Executive Director NICVD Dr Nadeem Qamar, all the provincial ministers, diplomats, MPAs and PPP leaders and workers in a large number. The new ZAB institute of cardiovascular disease stretches over an area of 40 Acres, located just North of the intersection of Main Korangi Road with Shah Faisal Korangi Road.

The site is bordered on the south by the Institute of Animal Health. Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister apprised the chairman about the new ZAB institute and about the health initiatives he has taken so far. He added that after the commendable achievement of NICVD in cardiac quality care and treatment for the people of Pakistan, the ZAB institute would be another huge achievement of his government to establish a 1200-bed, Murad Shah said that upon completion, the ZAB Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases would be the world’s largest cardiac center, catering to a projected population of 20 million in Karachi and also to the rest of the country.

“This state-of-the-art complex will comprise seven buildings, occupying a total area of 2,400,000 square feet. Equipped with the most advanced medical technology,” he said and added that it would offer specialized cardiac medical services, including 16 major and minor operating rooms, 18 cardiac cath labs, two MRI labs, four CT labs, and a range of imaging procedures.

The CM said that the hospital would boast the country’s largest clinical and animal research facility, among other services. The Pakistan Peoples Party prides itself on always recognizing healthcare as one of its major priorities, the chief minister said and added that Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto always urged the party to focus on education and on health.

“Taking her words as our mission, we have concentrated our efforts on these two sectors – health and education, and I am happy to say that our hard work is showing great results,” he said. Murad Shah said that his party and the government believed strongly that while infrastructure development needed to be a focus for the government, our true purpose must be human development. “To this end, we have invested our efforts towards improving healthcare through various endeavours including but not limited to the upgradation of hospitals and trauma centers; establishment of cardiac centers, expansion of women and children’s hospitals; provision of ambulances and other facilities; introduction safer as our guiding transfusion methods and unequivocally supporting projects,” he said.

SUIT: Talking about SIUT Healthcare Model, the Community-Govt partnership, the CM said that between 2018 to 2022 the largest dialysis center with 380 machines performed around 1350 sessions daily. He added that the largest transplant center performed 6,844 kidney transplants with life-long follow-up and medications for both donors and recipients.

The CM said that the center with five lithotripters treating a large number of stone diseases, dedicated pediatric urology, nephrology, and transplant center. He added that it has a dedicated oncology hospital in the public sector with two radiotherapy machines and PET CT facilities. He proudly said that nearly 15 million people benefited from different services during the last five years.

In Sukkur transplant service was started in SIUT Chablani Hospital where at breast cancer unit surgery, chemo, radiotherapy, and PET CT facilities have been provided. JPMC: Murad Ali Shah talking about the JPMC Cyberknife unit, said that it has treated 38000 patients and 18000 radio surgeries completed since 2012. He added that a new surgical complex was being established there. The new CyberKnife Unit was being equipped with a robotic surgery facility.

GIMS: The Chief Minister said that Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) has performed 756 liver transplants, 147 kidney transplants, 101 Cornea transplants, 43 Bone marrow transplants, 142 cochlear implant procedures and treated 2446 cancer patients, and gamma knife and 194400 patients in emergency.

Childlife Foundation: Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah talking about his government’s partnership with Childlife Foundation said that his government was working with them in 95 Sindh government hospitals and this partnership would further extend to all the government hospitals by the end of this year. Mr. Shah said that no child would be more than 30 minutes away from the world-class ICU services across Sindh.

“We treat 1.2 million Pediatric Patients per year. “In the near future we are going to integrate with ambulatory services,” he concluded. Earlier, Minister Health Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho talked about the health services being provided by the provincial government. Executive Director Dr Nadeem Qamar gave a detailed briefing about the ZAB institute project and about the performance of the NICVD and its satellites.

Pakistan-US Green alliance prime example of strong, bilateral partnership: Blome

Islamabad, March 20, 2023 (PPI-OT):Met Office informed that another strong westerly wave is likely to enter in Pakistan from 21st March and likely to grip most parts of the country on 22nd March. Under the influence of this weather system:

Balochistan: Widespread rain-wind/thunderstorm with isolated heavy falls is expected in Quetta, Zhob, Ziarat, Khuzdar, Sibbi, Naseerabad, Jaffarabad, Dera Bugti, Barkhan, Harnai, Chaman, Pishin, Qilla Saifullah, Qillah Abdullah, Dalbandin, Nokkundi, Panjgur, Kalat, Gwadar, Lasbella, Makran Coast from 21st (evening/night) to 24th March.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Widespread rain-wind/thundershower with scattered heavy falls (isolated hailstorm) is expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Haripur, Karak, Peshawar, Kohat, Charsada, Nowshera, Swabi, Bajaur, Kurram, Waziristan, Mohmand, Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan from 21st to 24th March.

Possible Impacts:

Strong wind and Hailstorm may cause damage to loose infrastructure and standing crops in the country.

Heavy Rains may cause Flash Floods in Quetta, Chaman, Pishin, Barkhan, Musakhel, Kalat, Khuzdar, Naseerabad, Jaffarabad, Kohlu, Zhob, Sibbi, Turbat, Awaran, Panjgur, Hill torrents of D.G Khan on 22nd and 23rd March while in Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Nowshera, Mardan, Waziristan, Bajur, Islamabad / Rawalpindi and Kashmir and Urban flooding in Peshawar, Islamabad/Rawalpindi and Lahore on 23rd and 24th March.

Landslides may occur in hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Murree and Galliyat during the forecast period.

Day temperature is likely to fall significantly during the spell.

Tourists are advised to remain more cautious during the forecast period.

PNS NASR carrying relief goods docked Turkish Port of Mersin

Islamabad, March 20, 2023 (PPI-OT):The Pakistan Navy Ship PNS NASR, carrying relief goods, has docked the Turkish Port of Mersin. According to Spokesperson Pak Navy, the relief goods include tents, blankets and medicines for earthquake victims. Upon arrival at the port of Turkey, officials of Pakistan Embassy and high level civil and military officials of Turkiye warmly welcomed the ship.

Another ship of Pakistan Navy, PNS Moawin, will also arrive in Turkiye and Syria in the next few days with relief goods. The Spokesperson said the Pakistani nation stands with the people of Turkiye and Syria in these testing times.
