No room for negotiations with PTI: Tarar

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Atta Tarar says the purpose of attacks on May 9 was to hide the corruption of 190 million pounds by PTI chairman Imran Khan.

Addressing a news conference in Lahore on Saturday, the Special Assistant said even, the enemy of Pakistan did not dare to target military installations but the PTI attacked these sensitive places.

To a question, he refused to hold any negotiations with PTI while saying that negotiations are held with the political parties not with the terrorist groups.

Pirzada rejects Western media reports about HR abuses against May 9 miscreants

Islamabad, June 03, 2023 (PPI-OT):Minister for Human Rights Riaz Hussain Pirzada took exception to the Western media reports about human rights violations with regard to the arrests of miscreants involved in the May 9 mayhem. In a statement, the minister said that like every civilized country in the world, action against the May 9 culprits is a legal requirement and also a matter of national security for Pakistan.

He said that on May 9, the PTI goons attacked national and private properties, sensitive military installations and state symbols, set ambulances on fire after unloading patients, and burnt schools, hospitals and memorials of the martyrs.

Riaz Hussain Pirzada said for the desecration of the monuments and burning of the Jinnah House, and Radio Pakistan and its rare historical heritage, these goons are under investigation and will be punished according to the law of land.

Pakistan Sees Minor Drop In Militant Attacks, Human Toll: Report

Pakistan witnessed a minor drop in militant attacks and their human toll in May this year, the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies, said.

However, the violence level in the first five months of the year was much higher than the same period last year, the Islamabad-based think tank said in a report.

The database reported 40 militant attacks last month, that took 48 lives and wounded 102 people, the report said, adding that, security forces personnel accounted for half of the deaths with 56 injuries, while 10 civilians were killed, along with the deaths of 14 militants.

Pakistani security forces continued operations against militants in May, and killed at least 64 militants and arrested 39 others.

The first five months of 2023 recorded 224 attacks that killed 357 people and injured 615 others, the report said.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan sworn in for 3rd term as Turkish President

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has been sworn in for a new five-year presidential term in a grand ceremony at Grand National Assembly in Ankara.

The sworn in ceremony in parliament is being followed by the inauguration ceremony which is being attended by 21 heads of state, 13 prime ministers, as well as parliamentary and ministerial-level representatives, and representatives of international organizations, including NATO and OIC at the Presidential Complex.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus President Ersin Tatar, Venezuela’s President Nicolas Maduro, and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan are among the participants.

The Turkish president will announce the new Cabinet later on Saturday.

Erdogan won a presidential runoff election last Sunday with 52.18 percent of the vote. Opposition candidate Kemal Kilicdaroglu received 47.82 percent votes

Italy, Pakistan bond strengthening with time: Ambassador Ferrarese

Pakistan and Italy have agreed to broaden and diversify bilateral relations, particularly in the field of economic cooperation.

This was stated by Ambassador of Italy Andreas Ferrarese while addressing a ceremony marking National Day of the Italy in Islamabad on Friday.

The Ambassador said that two sides agreed to establish a joint framework to deal with climate change and cooperation, water management to deal with climate change.

Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said both Pakistan and Italy enjoy excellent relations which are poised to grow more in the coming days.

The minister said Pakistan duly recognizes the Italian goodwill gesture and seeks to further expand these relations.

He said Italy is an important country in the European Union which always supported Pakistan be it GSP plus or any other issue.

Finance Minister vows to collectively steer country out of current economic challenges

Islamabad, June 03, 2023 (PPI-OT):Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has said the government will come up with new ideas in the weeks to come for the long term economic improvement. Talking to a delegation of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, he vowed to collectively steer the country out of current economic challenges.

The Finance Minister said we will bring agriculture revolution, establish a sovereign wealth fund and the IT sector will be focused. He said we will do the things which were ignored in the past. Ishaq Dar said the delay in the IMF program is unprecedented as there is no technical reason behind it.

The Finance Minister once again ruled out the default and regretted the statements being made by certain elements within the country in this regard. He said Pakistan is a solvent country having assets worth trillions of dollars. He said our external liabilities are around one hundred billion dollars but at the same time our only one asset of gas infrastructure is about forty to forty-five billion dollars. He said there is no need to worry. The Finance Minister asked the business community to put forward their reasonable demands with regards to the upcoming budget, assuring the government will cooperate with them.

PM expresses grief over loss of lives in Indian train accident

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the loss of hundreds of lives in a train accident in India.

In a tweet on Saturday, he extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families who lost their loved ones in this tragedy.

He prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
