Amman: The foreign ministers of the Arab Ministerial Committee have emphasized the urgent need to address Israeli policies aimed at altering the Arab, Islamic, and Christian identity of occupied Jerusalem. The committee, which includes foreign ministers from Arab states, convened in Amman to articulate a unified stance against the threats posed by Israeli measures in Jerusalem, which could affect the Islamic and Christian holy sites.

According to Union of OIC News Agencies, the meeting was attended by the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States and foreign ministers from Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, and Malaysia. Ayman Safadi, Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, highlighted in his address that Israel is infringing upon the sanctity of holy sites and restricting freedom of worship. He underscored that Al-Aqsa Mosque is solely a place of worship for Muslims and called on the international community to act decisively against Israeli violations in Jerusalem.

Palestinian Foreign Minister Farsin Aghabekian Shahin described the situation in Jerusalem as one of the most perilous phases of Israeli targeting, exacerbated by the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip and increased settlement activities. She called for a collective rescue plan to safeguard Jerusalem's identity and bolster Palestinian resilience. Shahin expressed gratitude to Jordan for hosting the meeting and highlighted the importance of Arab and Islamic efforts in preserving Jerusalem's identity.

Nabil Fahmy, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, warned of the increasing threats to the city of Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque. He cautioned that Israeli occupation policies could spark a religious conflict with significant regional and global repercussions. Fahmy emphasized the need for a comprehensive diplomatic campaign to alert the international community to these dangers.

Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan urged the international community to take concrete steps to halt violations in Gaza and the West Bank. He condemned Israeli actions that challenge peace agreements and called for accountability for those inciting violence and terrorism.

Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar highlighted the urgent need to stop settlement expansion and demographic changes in Palestinian territories. He expressed concern over the ongoing illegal occupation policies that threaten regional stability.

Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf spoke on the systematic Israeli plans to alter Jerusalem's legal status and demographic composition, which undermine the possibility of an independent Palestinian state. He emphasized the necessity of supporting Jerusalemites to preserve their cultural and religious identity.

Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Mohamed Ali Nafti, stressed the importance of preserving Jerusalem's identity and protecting its holy sites. He called for international legal obligations to be met to protect the Palestinian people and ensure their rights.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty stated that the Palestinian issue is at a critical juncture, with the potential for either peace or escalating conflict. He highlighted Egypt's efforts to mediate peace and urged Israel to honor ceasefire agreements.

Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein condemned illegal Israeli actions in Jerusalem and warned of the adverse effects on regional stability. He reiterated Iraq's rejection of imposing a fait accompli in Palestinian territories and called for respect for UN resolutions.

The Arab Ministerial Committee's meeting underscores the collective concern of Arab and Islamic nations over the situation in Jerusalem and the need for coordinated international action to address Israeli policies.
