Anti-typhoid vaccination campaign begins in Peshawar, 153 Union Councils of Balochistan

A twelve-day anti-typhoid vaccination campaign kicked off in Peshawar and 153 Union Councils of Balochistan on Monday.

In Peshawar, during the first phase of the drive, more than eight hundred thousand children aged nine months to fifteen years will be vaccinated against typhoid fever.

The typhoid campaign has been specially devised for the vaccination campaign which will be continued till 15th of this month.

Children up to five years of age will also be administered anti-polio drops in Peshawar.

The District Administration Peshawar has urged the parents to take their children to nearby vaccination centers or basic health units for anti-vaccine shots to protect them against the disease.

Meanwhile, the Health Department Balochistan has also urged all stakeholders’ civil society and media to play their role against typhoid.

IIOJK: Indian soldier commits suicide in Baramulla

In Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), an Indian soldier committed suicide in Baramulla district.

The soldier shot himself with his service rifle in Boniyar area of the district. This has raised the number of such deaths amongst Indian troops in Occupied Kashmir to five hundred and fifty-five since January 2007.

Punjab Govt using all resources for rehabilitation of flood victims: CM

A delegation of overseas Pakistanis called on Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi in Lahore on Monday and handed over cheques worth millions of rupees to him for CM’s Flood Relief Fund.

On this occasion, the CM said the passion of overseas Pakistanis to help flood victims is commendable.

He said the Punjab government is using all resources for the rehabilitation of flood victims with the money collected in the Chief Minister’s Flood Relief Fund.

UNSG urges all relevant parties in Yemen to choose peace for good

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has urged all relevant parties in Yemen to choose peace for good.

In a statement, the Secretary-General urged Yemeni parties to expand the truce’s terms and duration in line with the proposal presented to them by UN special envoy, Hans Grundberg.

Antonio Guterres strongly urged all those involved in the long-running conflict to seize this opportunity.

PAF vigorously pursuing relief activities in flood-hit areas

Pakistan Air Force (PAF) is vigorously pursuing relief and rehabilitation activities in flood-affected areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Balochistan and South Punjab.

According to PAF spokesperson, much needed medical assistance is being provided to flood victims at medical camps and through mobile medical teams.

PAF Medical Lab Collection Points are also actively involved in diagnosis of water-borne diseases amongst flood affectees.

The PAF personnel have also rescued people stranded at their flooded homes and shifted them to safer locations by utilizing transport fleet, helicopters and boats.

Dry ration, cooked food, fresh drinking water and other household items were also distributed amongst the flood-affected people.

Pakistan Railways decides to partially restore passenger train operation for Karachi

The Pakistan Railways has decided to partially restore passenger train operation for Karachi in phases from second of next month to minimize the difficulties of passengers.

This decision was taken in a meeting presided over by Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique through video link from the Ministry of Railways today (Friday).

Three more trains including Karachi Express, Karakoram Express and Pak-Business Express trains will also restart journey between Lahore and Karachi from 5th of next month. These trains will complete journey in about 22 hours initially, however, these trains will run with additional coaches to facilitate the maximum possible passengers.
