Green Tourism Company under the aegis of Special Investment Facilitation Council has decided to take steps for promotion of investment in the tourism sector. The important measures include visa on arrival for one hundred and twenty six countries, visa free entry for Gulf Corporation Council (GCC) countries and fast track visa processing within twenty-four hours. With this initiative, about eighty million dollars can be attracted in the form of direct foreign investment, while the volume of local investment will be 8.3 billion rupees. For the convenience of tourists, work has been started on necessary infrastructure at Naltar, Hunza and Skardu. In the first phase, development work has been started at seventeen places out of seventy eight places identified by the government. Approval has also been given to set up a central body for green tourism under which air operations will also be expanded. Special measures have been taken to protect tourists of all religions, especially Sikhs and Buddhists, to promote religious tourism under Green Tourism.
