Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Condemns Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government Over Terrorism Issues

Islamabad:Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has declared that no one will be permitted to destabilize the country's economy.

According to Radio Pakistan, during a Federal Cabinet meeting in Islamabad, the Prime Minister criticized the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for its failure to address increasing terrorism and lawlessness, as well as for organizing a long march. He emphasized that the country's macroeconomic stability, evidenced by historic State Bank reserves, controlled inflation, and a targeted fuel subsidy, will not be compromised.

The Prime Minister noted improvements in key economic indicators, including increased national remittances, strengthened fiscal discipline, and record-high State Bank reserves. He accused the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), which governed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for 13 years, of now pushing the country towards destruction.

Shehbaz Sharif highlighted that 800 billion rupees had been allocated to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for counter-terrorism efforts under the National Finance Commission Award between 2010 and 2026. Despite this, he said the provincial government failed to enhance the Counter Terrorism Department, upgrade the police force, or procure necessary weaponry, leading to a rise in terrorism.

Expressing his anguish, the Prime Minister lamented the martyrdom of common citizens, police, security officials, children, and mothers. He announced that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and the Pakistan Peoples Party would send a joint delegation to initiate dialogue with PTI's leadership to resolve matters amicably, with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman agreeing to facilitate the talks.

In international matters, Prime Minister Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan's unwavering support for Saudi Arabia, condemning recent Houthi attacks against the kingdom. He stressed that Pakistan is bound by the Trilateral Agreement and emphasized the collective responsibility of protecting the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah. He declared that any aggression against Saudi Arabia is a red line for Pakistan, and the country stands ready to cooperate with Saudi Arabia in all spheres.
