Islamabad: Three significant bills were presented in the Senate today, marking an eventful session that began with a solemn Fateha for those who lost their lives in recent terrorist incidents across the country. The proposed legislation includes The Mental Health Amendment Bill, 2025, The Income Tax Amendment Bill, 2025, and The University of Business, Sciences and Technology Bill, 2025. These bills have been forwarded to the relevant Standing Committees for further consideration.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Senate also successfully passed the Members of Parliament (Salaries and Allowances) Amendment Bill, 2025. This bill was presented by Senator Danesh Kumar and is one of several legislative measures cleared during today’s session.
Additionally, the Senate approved ‘The Anti-Rape (Investigation and Trial) (Amendment) Bill, 2023’, reflecting the government’s ongoing efforts to address and improve the legal framework around sensitive issues. The session concluded with an announcement that the Senate will reconvene tomorrow at 11:30 in the morning.
