Senate passes resolution mourning Ismail Haniyeh’s death

The Senate started its session at the Parliament House in Islamabad this evening with Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani the chair.

The Senate of Pakistan has unanimously passed a resolution, expressing profoundest grief and sorrow on the martyrdom of eminent Hammas leader Ismail Hania in an attack by Israeli Zionist in Tehran.

The resolution, moved by Palwasha Mohammad Zai Khan, also condemned the human rights violations and unprovoked bombing of Israel in Beirut and the recent killing of 250 innocent civilians in Palestine in addition to thousands of others.

It said Israel is morphing into an international criminal and terrorist entity that is attacking Muslim Nations with impunity.

The Senate of Pakistan strongly recommended that all countries, Organization of Islamic Cooperation and particularly Muslim countries unite to counter and restrain Israeli’s terrorist agenda and ensure lifting of siege of Gaza to provide immediate assistance to the starving and injured civilians and halting of bombing at Gaza
on immediate basis.

The House has also passed a unanimous resolution, expressing solidarity with the oppressed Kashmiri people in their just struggle for realization of right to self-determination.

The resolution, moved by Ali Zafar, reaffirmed Pakistan’s unstinting moral, diplomatic and political support to the Kashmiri people’s struggle for the realization of their right to self-determination.

The House also paid rich tribute to the courage and sacrifice of the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The resolution rejected India’s unilateral and illegal actions since 5th August 2019 and expressed grave concerns over the continued attempts aimed at changing the demographic structure and political landscape of Indian Occupied Kashmir.

It emphasized that any political process subservient to the Indian Constitution cannot be a substitute to the exercise of right to self-determination by the people of Jammu and Kashmir as enshrined in the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

The resolution deplored the
impunity with which the Indian forces continue their human rights violations under draconian laws that defy norms of justice,

It also rejected the irresponsible statement of the Indian leaders regarding Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, threatening regional peace and stability and reaffirmed the unshakable resolve of the Pakistan nation to thwart any aggressive act.

The Senate of Pakistan demanded that India must release Kashmiri political prisoners, halt the ongoing human rights violations and earnestly implement the relevant UN Security Council resolutions, enabling the Kashmiri people to determine their future through a democratic method of fair and impartial plebiscite under United Nations auspices.

The House reiterated to continue raising voice against injustice and oppression until the Kashmiri people achieve their inalienable right to self-determination.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Amir Muqam said today the entire Pakistani nation overwhelm
ingly supported the Kashmir cause by participating in events organized in the length and breadth of the country in connection with Youm-e-Istehsal.

The House will now meet tomorrow evening.
