ECP extends deadline for nomination papers in Punjab Assembly polls

Islamabad, March 14, 2023 (PPI-OT): The Election Commission of Pakistan has extended the deadline for filing of nomination papers for Punjab assembly elections till Thursday. According to ECP spokesperson, the extension has been granted in response to the demand of candidates and is aimed at providing ample time to complete the nomination process. The ECP has also extended the deadline for filing of nomination papers on reserved seats for women and minorities to Thursday.

The schedule of elections, which was issued on March 8, would remain unchanged. The polling is set to be held on April 30, and political parties are expected to comply with the ECP’s instructions to ensure a smooth and transparent election process.

Prime Minister announces distribution of free flour among deserving families during Ramazan

Islamabad, March 13, 2023 (PPI-OT): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif says it is first time in history of country that a relief package has been prepared for provision of free flour to deserving people in Ramazan-ul-Mubarak. Chairing a review meeting in Lahore on Monday for provision of free flour under Ramazan Package, he said free flour will be distributed to 15.8 million families of Punjab in Ramazan-ul-Mubarak. He said that distribution of free flour will be made from 25th Shaban to 25th Ramazan.

He said that distribution of flour will be done through eighty-five hundred utility stores besides establishing twenty thousand points for convenience of the general public. He said eligibility for free flour can be checked through SMS. He said that no compromise will be made on the quality of free flour and modern technology will be utilized for prevention of theft of flour.

ECP suspends by-elections for 37 National Assembly seats

Islamabad, March 12, 2023 (PPI-OT): The Election Commission of Pakistan has suspended its notifications regarding electoral process for by-elections on 37 seats of national assembly. These include 24 constituencies of national assembly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, three in Islamabad, nine in Sindh, three in Islamabad and one in Balochistan. The polling process has been suspended in pursuance of orders of high courts of Islamabad, Peshawar, Sindh and Balochistan.

Over 21m children to be vaccinated in March anti-polio campaign

Islamabad, March 12, 2023 (PPI-OT): A five-day anti Polio vaccination campaign to immunize more than twenty-one point five four million children under the age of five will kick off in Sindh and Punjab on Monday. The vaccination campaign is being held in two phases due to concurring activities of seventh national census.

In first phase, over seventeen point four one million children in thirteen districts of Punjab and sixteen districts of Sindh and Islamabad will be vaccinated. The second phase will be held from third of next month to vaccinate more than 4.12 million children in 12 districts of Balochistan and 26 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Minister for Health Services Abdul Qadir Patel has urged parents and caregivers to ensure that their children receive the life-saving polio vaccine so that they remain protected from poliovirus. The Sehat Tahhafuz Helpline 1166 and WhatsApp Helpline 0346-777-65-46 will be available to assist parents and caregivers in reporting missed children and providing related information.

Prime Minister directs for expediting public contact campaign

Islamabad, March 12, 2023 (PPI-OT): Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs, National heritage and Culture Engineer Amir Muqam called on Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif in Lahore on Sunday and gave a detailed briefing about the political situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

During the meeting, the issues pertaining to the National Heritage and Culture Division were discussed. They also exchanged views on the overall political situation of the country and other issues of mutual interest.

The Prime Minister directed for expediting the public contact campaign and effective utilization of the digital technology with responsibility in this regard. He also appreciated the steps taken by Amir Muqam for strengthening of PML-N in the province at the grassroots level.

Marriyum criticizes Imran Khan for disturbing law, order situation in country

Islamabad, March 12, 2023 (PPI-OT): Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb has criticized PTI Chairman Imran Khan for disturbing the law and order situation in the country. Addressing a news conference in Lahore on Sunday, she said that Imran Khan faked a drama of cipher after losing power last year, which badly damaged our foreign relations.

She said that every single political gimmick of PTI leadership, including allegations of imported government has failed miserably. She said that Imran Khan handed over the country to the IMF and played with the country’s economy.

Iran shows interest to initiate more electricity projects in Pakistan

Islamabad, March 12, 2023 (PPI-OT): Iran has shown interest to initiate more projects on electricity in Pakistan. This understanding reached in a meeting during the Energy ministers meeting of Pakistan Engineer Khurram Dastgir Khan and Ali Akbar Mehrabian of Iran in Tehran.

During the meeting, the mutual areas of interest were discussed. The Energy Minister of Iran appreciated the authorities of Pakistan on construction of transmission line for the import of electricity from Iran to Gwadar on great pace. He expressed his interest to initiate more projects on electricity with Pakistan.
