Kohat: Minister for States and Frontier Regions, Engineer Ameer Muqam, has called for collective efforts to establish durable peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Addressing a press conference after attending a Grand Jirga for peace in Kurram at Circuit House in Kohat, he emphasized that the province cannot afford any sectarian violence. The minister urged the provincial government to prioritize the restoration of peace in the region.
According to Radio Pakistan, Ameer Muqam stated that the federal government is prepared to collaborate with the provincial government to find a solution for lasting peace in the area. He also expressed his intention to speak with the federal government about providing compensation for the affected people of Kurram following recent violence.
Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, who was also present at the event, announced plans to hold an All Parties’ Conference on Thursday. The conference aims to address lasting peace in Kurram and the utilization of the province’s natural
resources. He assured that efforts for peace and public welfare would transcend ideological and political differences, inviting heads of all political parties, regardless of their affiliations, to participate in the conference.
