Asia Cup 2023: India beat Nepal, qualify for Super 4

India have qualified for the super four round of the Asia Cup 2023 after beating Nepal by 10 wickets at the Pallekele International Stadium, Kandy, Sri Lanka on Monday night.

Bating first, Nepal were all out for 230 in 48.2 overs.

However due to rain, the match was restricted to 23 overs with a target of 145 runs.

India achieved the target in 20.1 overs.

In a heartwarming display of sportsmanship, Pakistani and Indian cricketers were seen sharing light moments during their training sessions in Kandy, Sri Lanka.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) shared a video on its Twitter account, showcasing interactions between players from both teams as they prepared for the high-octane clash.

In a short video, star Pakistani pacer, Haris Rauf, can be seen meeting Indian batting great, Virat Kohli, who warmly greeted each other, and exchanged a handshake.

The duo engaged in a conversation about ongoing and upcoming events. Kohli inquired about his fitness, and they deliberated on the challenges of playing in the ODI format.

In another clip, the all-format captain, Babar Azam, and opening batter, Imam-ul-Haq, shared a casual chat with Indian captain, Rohit Sharma, outside the practice ground.

It is worth noting that over the last two years, Pakistani and Indian cricketers have shared many beautiful moments, indicating a strong relationship off the field.

Currently, Pakistan is riding a wave of success, having defeated Nepal by a significant margin of 238 runs in the opening game of the Asia Cup at the Multan Cricket Stadium.

On the other hand, the Men in Blue will be playing their first match in the tournament, with some players making their debut in a match against Pakistan today.

Umar Amin Signs for Leicestershire for Remainder of County Championship

Leicestershire County Club has secured the services of Pakistan batter Umar Amin for the remainder of the County Championship campaign.

The 33-year-old has represented his country in four Test matches and 30 white-ball games, with his last international appearance being in January 2018.

The left-handed all-rounder, who has a first-class batting average of 41.13, will be available for the last four matches of Division Two for Leicestershire.

Currently, Leicestershire County Club is trailing by 23 points behind the second-placed Worcestershire, having played one match fewer than the latter.

While speaking to the media, Umar Amin expressed his delight at joining Leicestershire and is hopeful of contributing to the team’s success in the coming weeks.

Umar Amin will be filling the void left by Peter Handscomb, who returned to Australia after Leicestershire’s One Day Cup semi-final win against Gloucestershire.

The Rawalpindi-born cricketer will not be eligible to participate in the final game against Hampshire at Trent Bridge on September 16.

Amin made his Test debut at Lord’s in 2010 during the Test series against Australia. That series also included a two-day match against Leicestershire, where Amin retired on 51.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has announced an opening ceremony for the Asia Cup featuring Aima Baig and Nepal’s Trishala Gurung.

The Asia Cup 2023 is set to commence tomorrow with a star-studded opening ceremony at the Multan Cricket Stadium. Lahore Issues Traffic Plan for Asia Cup 2023 Matches

Lahore City Traffic Police (CTP) has also issued a traffic plan for Asia Cup 2023 matches in Punjab’s capital city.

According to the update, Government College for Boys, Liberty Parking Area, and Sunfort Hotel will be the parking spots for spectators. During the matches, traffic on Mall Road, Jail Road, and Canal Road will continue as per routine.

Furthermore, traffic on Main Boulevard Gulberg and Ferozpur Road will continue like normal. Interruptions around Kalma Chowk, MM Alam Road, and other roads leading up to and around Gaddafi Stadium may be observed, especially during the VIP movements.

The department stated that 1,000 traffic wardens will ensure the safety and convenience of the public. The department has placed twenty lifters on roads to take action against wrong parking. The department vowed to only close roads for VIP movement for a minimal amount of time.

Authorities have been advised to assist the general public in an efficient and polite manner. They have also requested the public to cooperate with the authorities to ensure order in the city.

Pakistan Team Reaches Oman for Men’s Hockey 5s Asia Cup 2023

The Pakistani national team has reached Oman to participate in the upcoming Men’s Hockey 5s Asia Cup 2023 scheduled to kick off on August 29 in Salalah.

As per the announced schedule, the Men in Green will commence their campaign tomorrow against Japan, with the top three teams qualifying for the 5s World Cup 2024.

The Green Shirts will play two matches on August 30, one against Bangladesh, and they will come face to face against arch-rivals India in the second game.

The national team will also play two matches on August 31, the first against the home side Oman, and the second against Malaysia.

Yesterday, the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) announced a 10-member squad for the upcoming event after final approval by President PHF, Brigadier Sajjad Khokhar.

It is worth noting that Olympian, Waseem Feroz, will be the head coach of the team, while Lt Colonel Yameen Khan will serve as the manager of the national team.

Pakistan beat India to clinch gold medal at IBSA World Games 2023

Pakistan won gold medal after defeating India in blind cricket at the International Blind Sports Association Games 2023 in Birmingham.

Batting first, India scored 184 runs for the loss of 3 wickets within the stipulated 20 overs.

Pakistan achieved the target in 14.1 overs with 8 wickets to spare.

Last-Minute Big Change to Asia Cup Squad

Pakistan have made an addition to their squad for the Men’s ODI Asia Cup 2023. Left-handed batter Saud Shakeel has been added to the 17-member squad. Tayyab Tahir, the right-handed batter, will remain with the squad as a travelling reserve.

The Babar Azam’s side will arrive in Multan on Sunday, 27 August, and will rest the next day.

The team management has provided relaxation to the players who participated in the Lankan Premier League. Babar, Imam-ul-Haq and Naseem Shah will travel to Lahore on Sunday and join the side on Monday evening.

The players will train on Tuesday, 29 August, at the Multan Cricket Stadium from 1630 till 1930. Before the start of the session, the Pakistan captain will hold pre-series media conference.

Pakistan play Nepal in Multan on 30 August in the tournament opener.
