Reservations of journalists on PMDA will be removed: Information Minister

A delegation of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists called on Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhary Fawad Hussain in Lahore.

During the meeting problems of journalists and draft of Pakistan Media Development Authority came under discussion.

Chaudhary Fawad Hussain said the incumbent government believes in freedom of media and reservations of journalists on PMDA will be removed.

He said that presumptions regarding PMDA are totally false and no media house is being closed.

The Information Minister said PMDA would be launched through a bill not by ordinance.

Defense Day of Pakistan to be observed in AJK, GB

Like other parts of the country, Defense Day of Pakistan will be observed throughout Azad Jammu and Kashmir tomorrow with full enthusiasm and fervor to pay homage to martyrs who rendered sacrifice for defending the motherland.

In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, various political, social and literary organizations have arranged functions, seminars and rallies to highlight the significance of the day and pay homage to the valiant forces of the country.

In Muzaffarabad, the main function under the aegis of Kashmir Liberation Cell will be held wherein Prime Minister Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan Niazi will be the Chief Guest.

In Gilgit-Baltistan, a function in connection with Defence Day will be held at Mazar of Havaldar Lalik Jan Shaheed Nishn-e- Haider in Yasin, Ghizer, tomorrow.

Commander Force Command Northern Areas will lay floral reath at Hawaldar Lalak Jan’s mazar and offer Fatiha.

Guard of honor will also be presented at the Mazar by a contingent of Pak Army.

GB Govt initiates 53 projects for development of Agriculture, livestock & fisheries

Gilgit Baltistan government has initiated fifty-three new projects costing two point 49 billion rupees for development of Agriculture, livestock and fisheries sector in the region.

According to annual development program of current fiscal year, two storage centers are being set up in Skardu and Gilgit a cost of 140 million rupees.

One hundred and sixty million rupees are being spent on value chain addition for buck wheat and barley.

Three hundred million rupees are being spent for promotion of diary sector.

Adviser on Parliamentary Affairs Babar Awan says construction sector and other industries are booming in the country.

Talking to media in Islamabad on Sunday, he said government has provided facilities to support business community in construction sector.

He said in coming two years government will focus more to promote construction industry.

The Adviser said industrialists and businessmen are expressing their satisfaction on facilities provided to them.

Three security forces martyred in Quetta blast

Three security forces were martyred and 12 people injured in a bomb blast at Mastung Road in Quetta on Sunday.

According to police sources, the injured were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment.

The blast took place near security forces vehicle.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has condemned the TTP suicide attack on FC check-post at Mastung road in Quetta.

In a tweet on Sunday, he expressed condolence to the families of the martyrs and prayed for the recovery of the injured.

He saluted security forces and their sacrifices for keeping us safe by thwarting foreign-backed terrorists’ designs.

Governor Balochistan Syed Zahoor Ahmed Agha and Home Minister Balochistan Ziaullah Langu have strongly condemned the blast and sought report into the tragic incident.

In their separate condemnation statement they said terrorists would not succeed in their nefarious designs.

Meanwhile, the funeral prayer of the security personnel martyred in blast at Mastung Road was offered.

Governor Balochistsn Syed Zahoor Ahmed Agha, Home Minister Balochistan Mir Ziaullah Langu, high ranking civil and military officers and others attended the funeral prayer.
