UAE launches program to provide food, shelter of flood-hit Balochistan people

The United Arab Emirates has launched a relief program to provide food and shelter to the people of Balochistan, hit by the flash floods consequent to torrential rains.

The program has been initiated under the directives of Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The first phase of the programme focuss on providing aid to areas most ravaged by floods, such as the districts of Lasbela and Jhal Magsi.

At a later stage, the authority will send relief convoys to other areas in the province to help their residents deal with the current situation.

Pakistan, Denmark sign inter-governmental framework agreement

Minister for Economic Affairs Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has said that Pakistan and Denmark enjoy a friendly and cordial relationship, and there is a lot of potential to enhance the relationship between both the nations.

He was talking to Danish Ambassador, Lis Rosenholm in Islamabad after the signing of an inter-governmental framework agreement to enhance financial cooperation in energy and water sector.

Under the agreement interest free loans will be extended for renewable energy, energy efficiency, water supply and waste-water treatment sectors.

Sardar Ayaz Sadiq told the ambassador that efforts to revive bilateral economic and development cooperation are underway with Denmark, agreeing to provide budget support to the Government of Pakistan through Inter-Governmental Framework Agreement.

Terrorism has potential to destabilize region, needs well coordinated response: COAS

Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa says terrorism is a global threat which has the potential of destabilizing the region that needs a well-coordinated response.

Talking to Commander Iraqi Navy Lieutenant General Ahmed Jasim Maarij Abdullah Al Zayid who called on him in Rawalpindi, he said Pakistan values its brotherly relationship with Iraq and acknowledged sacrifices rendered by Iraqi nation in fighting terrorism.

During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, regional security issues and measures to further enhance bilateral defence collaboration were discussed.

The visiting dignitary acknowledged the professionalism of Pakistan Armed Forces and also offered his condolence on the loss of precious lives during Heli crash in Balochistan.
