DETAILS OF THE CASE: According to the lawsuit, throughout the Class Period, defendants made false and/or misleading statements and/or failed to disclose that: (1) according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”), Abbott had “egregiously unsanitary” conditions at its Sturgis, Michigan facility which produced nearing half of Abbott’s various forms of infant formula under the brands Similac, Alimentum, and EleCare; (2) as a result, Abbott’s infant formula business was in dire jeopardy given the flagrant violations of federal and state health and safety regulations; (3) based on inspections by the FDA between 2019 and 2022, Abbott failed to establish process controls “designed to ensure that infant formula does not become adulterated due to the presence of microorganisms in the formula or in the processing environment” and Abbott also failed to “ensure that all surfaces that contacted infant formula were maintained to protect infant formula from being contaminated by any source”; (4) the unhygienic conditions of the Sturgis facility resulted in the recall of Abbott’s infant formula and closure of the Sturgis facility; and (5) as a result, defendants’ public statements about Abbott’s business, operations, and prospects were materially false and misleading at all relevant times. When the true details entered the market, the lawsuit claims that investors suffered damages.

Ashrafi invites world personalities, organizations for supporting flood victims

Chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Counci Hafiz Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi has invited the world leading personalities and organizations for supporting the flood victims in Pakistan.

Talking to national and international media, he said Pakistan alone cannot cope with the damages caused by the floods in different parts of the country.

He lauded the services of Pakistan Army and volunteers of religious organizations in flood hit areas.

He said Pakistan is grateful to the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, China, United Kingdom and United States for extending all out cooperation to the flood victims in Pakistan.

Over 1,200 medical relief camps set up in flood hit areas: Patel

Minister of National Health Services Abdul Qadir Patel said over 1,200 medical relief camps have been established in flood hit areas to provide medical assistance to flood victims

He said that 300 health camps were being set up in six districts of Balochistan and Sindh and 400 in eight districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Talking to the APP, the minister told that the primary goal of the camps said that all basic health facilities including medicines, vaccination of children are being made available in the medical camps.

Cut made to release water pressure in Manchhar Lake: Sharjeel Inam

Sindh Government at the advice of irrigation experts has made a technical cut in Manchhar Lake to avoid inundation of major towns in the area and their populace.

The Sindh Minister of Information Sharjeel Inam addressing press conference in Karachi on Sunday said the crack in the bank of the lake was made at a place where there would be minimal damage to the infrastructure and people.

The Minister further said water level in the Manchar Lake had reached to dangerous level and there was danger that the lake would start overflowing and inundate Sehwan and Bhan Sayedabad towns, having huge population.

Sharjeel Inam said the technical breach will affect only six union councils.

He said the government has already evacuated the population of the mentioned UCs to safe places while Chief Minister Sindh is already personally monitoring the situation there.

Masood Khan apprised the audience of the widespread destruction caused by the unprecedented floods in Pakistan and the requirements for assistance for the rehabilitation of the affected people and infrastructure.

He urged Pakistani-American physicians to come forward and play their role in the national development of Pakistan.

He particularly urged the youth to take lead in lifting the profile of growing Pakistani diaspora in the United States and assured them of Embassy’s continued cooperation.

The Ambassador also apprised the audience about the ongoing processes for continued placement of Pakistani doctors in the United States and assured them complete cooperation and support.

While appreciating the role and support of Ambassador Khan, President of DOGANA thanked Pakistan’s Ambassador and the Embassy for their proactive role in engaging the community.

PM thanks UAE for extending support to Pakistan flood victims

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with the Charge d’Affaires of United Arab Emirates and discussed matters of mutual interest in Lahore on Sunday.

On behalf of the Pakistani nation, the Prime Minister thanked the government of the United Arab Emirates for sending planeloads of relief goods for the flood affectees.

He thanked President UAE Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for sending relief goods worth 50 million dollars and also thanked Prime Minister UAE Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for providing aid of 50 million Emirati Dirham.
