Karachi, Atlas Insurance Limited informed Pakistan Stock Exchange that board of directors meeting of the company held on December 22, 2022 through video link. The agenda of the meeting to consider and approve the annual budget of the company for the year ending December 31, 2023.

Atlas Insurance Limited was incorporated as a public limited company on September 06, 1934. The Company is a subsidiary of Shirazi Investments Private Limited. The Company was granted license to work as Window Takaful Operator (WTO) by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) under Takaful Rules, 2012 to carry on Window Takaful Operations in Pakistan.

The Company is engaged in general insurance business. The Principal activity of the Company is to provide PTF policy, Fire, Marine, Motor Cycle Accident, Liabilities of Product and Public, Health, Travel and Miscellaneous.

The total shares company has issued are 84,895,279. The Earnings per shares of the Company is 7.60 in 2020 which was 7.34 in 2019. The Company got Profit after Taxation of Rs. 645,427,000 in 2020 which was Rs. 623,256,000 in 2019.

Board of directors meeting of Adam Sugar Mills Limited

Karachi, Adam Sugar Mills Limited informed Pakistan Stock Exchange that board of directors meeting of the company will be held on December 30, 2022 at Karachi. The agenda of the meeting will to consider the Annual Accounts for the period ended September 30, 2022.

Further, the company has declared the closed period from December 23, 2022 to December 30, 2022.

Adam Sugar Mills Limited was incorporated in Pakistan on 1965. The name of the company was Bahawalnagar Sugar Mills Limited, but as a public limited company, in 1985, the name of the company was changed to Adam Sugar Mills Limited. The Shares of the company are now quoted in Pakistan Stock Exchange, and “ADAMS” symbol is being used for the shares of the company.

Adam Sugar Mills Limited is engaged in the manufacturing and sale of Sugar, part of Candy manufacturing industry.

The total number of shares the company has issued are 17,291,008. Earnings per shares in 2020 has increased up to 18.42 whereas it was (14.69) in 2019. The Profit after tax recorded in 2020 is 318,557,000 which was (254,059,000) in 2019.

Federal cabinet approves ‘Finance Supplementary Bill 2023’

The federal cabinet has approved the Finance Supplementary Bill 2023 providing for a one percent increase in General Sales Tax and additional taxes on luxury items as part of the reforms related to the International Monetary Fund’s Ninth Review.

The Federal Cabinet met in Islamabad with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in the chair.

The Prime Minister gave the directives not to tax any items of daily use which could affect the poor or middle class.

During the briefing given to the prime minister, it was informed that under the reforms, the luxury items would be taxed.

The prime minister said the government was making all out efforts to put the minimum possible burden on the poor people.

The supplementary finance bill would now be tabled before the parliament today as the president has already summoned the sessions of the National Assembly and Senate.

The prime minister said that an austerity policy would be adopted at the government level which would soon be formally announced.

He said all of the cabinet members and the government officers would be bound to adhere to the austerity package as it was imperative to steer the country out of economic challenges.

He said the 220 million of Pakistan were bearing the brunt of the incompetence and negligence of the previous government.

The Prime Minister the previous government betrayed the people through its tall claims of simplicity and austerity.

The cabinet also approved the renaming of the Turkiye Earthquake Victims Fund as Turkiye and Syria Earthquake Victims Fund.

The prime minister expressed condolences over the destruction caused by the unprecedented earthquake in Turkiye and Syria.

The cabinet members also offered Fateha for the late mother of Advisor to Prime Minister Ahad Cheema.

The federal cabinet endorsed the Economic Coordination Committee’s decisions it had taken in its meetings held on February 10 and 13, 2023.

Death toll from Turkiye-Syria earthquake rises to 41,000

The death toll from the deadly earthquake in Turkiye and Syria has risen to over 41,000.

Turkish authorities said 35,418 people have been killed in the country, while the Syrian government and the United Nations say more than 5,800 people are dead in Syria.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has launched an appeal for 397 million dollars to help earthquake victims in Syria, saying the funds would bring “life-saving relief” for nearly five million Syrians and would cover a period of three months.
